We are sorry you had an issue and were unhappy with your purchase. The shade is fabric wrapped over TC (plastic/acrylic) as are most lampshades. These are covered under warranty and would have been replaced free of charge for such problems. Thank you for your feedback.

Hello, we are sorry you are having a hard time with your purchase. Please note that this lamp does not need a special bulb. The bulb needed is found in any department store, hardware store, grocery store, or even some pharmacies. They are usually sold in packs of 2,4 or 6 and are most commonly used in chandeliers. They are less expensive than the larger counterpart type A bulbs and since these are less expensive lamps, we like to keep the cost down for all including the bulb. It does clearly state both on the product page and description as well as in the instruction manual included with the lamp that it "Uses 1 x 40-Watt type B candelabra Base Bulb (not included)". Just search that and or put E12 base (which is another name for candelabra) and you will find them very easily. thanks and hope that helps!
