DO NOT BUY! Failed < 2 years
Shelter Logic says this product is only to last 1-3 years. Home Depot uses a lower thickness cover and Shelter Logic will not help at all. Ours ripped right down the center peak of the cover. Never will i spend a penny on Shelter Logic nor would i suggest others do. Our shelter is less than 2 years old but older than the 1 year warranty. Of course, it is almost like Shelter Logic knows exactly when their product will fail. 3K+ for a product that can barely make it past it's warranty. Not Thanks.

Hello Nick,

We are awfully sorry to see that you are unhappy with your cover. Please know that fabric life is affected by the application, location, and the physical elements the shelter is exposed to. If you live in an area that gets more sun exposure than most of the cover, along with exposure to other elements such as strong winds and snow (if applicable), it can also affect longevity. We do offer replacement cover kits in Standard, Heavy-Duty, and Ultra-Duty material. The heavier materials have longer warrantied and life expectancies which might better suit your needs. Please note that the price has increased over the last couple years due to inflation. If you have any questions or wish to place an order, please call us at 1-800-932-9344.

Thank you ShelterLogic

      Big
I was able to assemble the 22X28 pretty much by myself and a mini excavator that I rented to clear the location of the garage. I found the bolt holes were more than adequately sized. The bolts and nuts are all thrown in a bag together, but it was not that hard to figure out where they went. One thing, some reviews said to leave bolts loose until after the cover is on. Don't do it as the whole structure will "rack" as bottom rails go on after cover. Will update the review after Winter.

Poor quality. Screw holes did not line up. Had to drill new holes. Outer canvas started to tare when ratcheting the straps.

          Cover is Junk
I ordered this just at a year ago and when I went to store my boat for the season and the cover is already leaking. There was no external damage the cover is simply falling apart and delaminating. There is a line from front to back on the roof section that allows water to just flow in. Poor quality cover if it cant even make it one year. I had high hopes but I would not spend $1500 on a product that will last 1 year.

This carport is large. Larger than I thought. Taller than I thought. It’s pretty epic. You need 3 people to put this thing together. You will hate yourself if you try it with 2. You will need an 8 ft ladder. 6 ft if you are tall. You will want to READ ALL THE DIRECTIONS THOROUGHLY FIRST! There are a few things you have to disconnect at the very end to put the doors on!!! Don’t tighten everything fully UNTIL the VERY END! I had challenges reattaching. You need to pull the main flap tight when you tighten all bolts. I tightened one side and had someone stand on the bottom cross bar of the other side. It’s not easy but we got it drum tight. The parts to this model are also used in other models. There are several bolt types. The bolts of each type can vary in size a bit. This was confusing but not a huge deal. Unless it is. Which is possible. Had 2 places where the bolt could barely thread. Just be prepared. I fastened the feet to blocks of cut up sidewalk. This thing could weather a hurricane with no sweat now. Solid product.

Missing 3 major parts, tried calling to discuss, but co. wasn't open (Sat), so had to send helper crew home and stop work. What a waste. Very poor quality control by Shelterlogic. Missing top wind brace bars and clamps for bottom brace bars. Cannot continue/complete until at very least clamps arrive. These are necessary for bottom bars to hold canvas in place. So now I'm stuck with what you see in pic until parts come some day, IF I even get thru to customer service.

            Great product
Keep it in perspective... For $900 this is a great product. The steel frame and hardware is beautiful, it is all powder coated and will definitely last a long time. The canvas and doors are also great quality, again for the money. If you take your time and install it correctly I see no reason why this thing won’t last. I took the process one step further and used ground contact pressure treated lumber and created a platform first by embedding 2x4’s into the ground and then laying PT plywood on top This made for a beautiful base to mount the garage to. It cost me $500 in material for a 13x28 floor. We’ll worth it.

Overall a great product, you can tell that it is structurally sound once built. I have a 22' boat that fit perfectly under this, trailer and all. Hardware is all the same size (1/4-20 I believe) so it makes it easy to assemble, I used a ratchet wrench for everything. You can build the ribs by your self, once you get past that and that actually putting it together, you need at least one other person and a 6' ladder. Once you get to the point of pulling the main cover over the top, one other person would probably come in handy, you will need a rope to do this and it is not supplied with the kit. Be prepared to spend all weekend working on putting this together, I have about a day doing all of the rib pieces and prep work, then another day with one other person to assemble everything. Some issues: -Some of the pieces did not slide in like they were supposed to, they were flared out. I would recommend having and angle grinder handy in case you need to take a pit of material off. -The instructions are very generalized, keep that in mind when you are building it. For example, the instructions only show 6 ribs when there are actually 8 on this set up. -The doors/openings on either end do not have a flap to hold them up, which would be nice. I plan on installing some on each end, when backing a boat in, there is no way to see in there with the flaps hanging down.

I own there of these tents. The instructions are beyond horrible. They sub in the same instructions for all models instead of making one for each tent. Had I not done extra research I would have made my frame 6 inches too short. They take all 300 bolts of 5 sizes and drop them in the bag with 300 nuts. Most manufactures would separate and label each bag. The quality of the holes drilled and ability to slide the bars together is very low. I had to hammer the holes down and redial many burrs. They dont give not a single extra nut or bolt. I paid 2700 dollars and I feel like squeezed the last dollar The directions are truly lacking in showing you were parts with tiny diagrams. If this didn't weigh 1200 pounds and it wasn't half together I would have brought it back. Low quality and double if not triple the install time For major discount or gift card I would help fix it

We are very sorry to see you experienced difficulty assembling your shed. We recommend at least two people are required to assemble a shed of any size. Assembly time depends on a variety of factors, including roof design, tools available, DIY skill and the pace at which you work. Generally, you should plan on at least one day working with someone who can assist you. We are also available for assembly support 7 days a week at 1-800-932-9344. We appreciate your feedback and will be using this proactively.

This is a really big structure, and seems to be good quality. The directions are very lacking, but with common sense it isn't that difficult to put together. Plan on using a lot of muscle, and some really tall ladders! It took 2 of us about a day and a half to fully put this together, not 8 hours. Purchased it to store boat, and very happy with it...hoping it lasts!

I purchased a 12x28x8 ShelterLogic July 2018. It is an excellent and sturdy tent. It has survived several wind storms with gusts in excess of 50 mph and sub-zero temperatures. The only 2 negative comments I would make are: 1. It takes longer to assemble than the instructions imply. Even with a second person helping it took more than a day to assemble. 2. When inserting the poles into other poles, the punched holes for the bolts had burrs inside the outer sleeve, making the insertion of the inner pole impossible. I had to file nearly every outer sleeve inside the pole before I could properly insert the connecting pole. Aside from those 2 points, it assembled well and has held up remarkably well. I also purchased the door kits making the opening of the doors very easy. We love our tent and would highly recommend it! Love the apron along the sides that keeps rain, water, snow from getting under the sides. The soil at my location is extremely rocky, impossible to screw in the anchors or even dig holes for the anchors. I purchased eight 5 gallon buckets and filled with stone. I tied them along the inside of the walls and tied them to the top side rails. This method has withstood the wind storms I have mentioned and absolutely not moved at all. Solid and secure. We are very happy with the SelterLogic tent!

The first problems we had was we were sent the wrong size shelter then the next shelter was being sent out to the wrong address this took an additional week to correct that. But the biggest problem was the exaggeration about how long it would take to put the shelter together. We were told when we called ShelterLogic it should take 2 or 3 people 4 to 6 hours to put it together. Nearly every Pole needed to be hammered on the ends with a steel Hammer just so that they would slide in easy enough that the nut and bolt could be put in place. Once we overcame that and we're able to pull the top over the pole and down to the sides it took hours to line up the wind bars with the clips that hold them in place. We were not a bunch of amateurs putting this together. The person in charge of most of the build had built an entire Log Cabin nearly from scratch and that included the plumbing and wiring as well. With this ShelterLogic tent the final straw was when we went to roll the sides, we found out that there was no way to hold them in place to bring a vehicle in and out, which is what we had purchased it for. After calling ShelterLogic we were told we should never have been sold such a large structure without a pulley system for the door and they quickly sent one out. Notice what I said they sent 1 out but we have 2 doors. After nearly three full days of working on this we are still tweaking and adjusting it so that we can square off the entire structure making the doors open and close easily. As a veterans organization we actually bought another ShelterLogic which is considerably larger than this one and we are just beginning to put it together. Already we are finding out again that all the poles are having to be hammered with a steel Hammer so that they will slide in smoothly and allow the nut and bolt to do its job. I do not believe that I would purchase another shelter logic item knowing what I know now. In conclusion we received the wrong directions for the first ShelterLogic and had to build it with directions for a smaller model when we contacted ShelterLogic and asked if they would send us out the correct directions at 8 a.m. we were told they would send them out immediately we never received them via email or text. When calling ShelterLogic you can either choose one for buying an item or two if you've already bought one we found it if we chose one people answered right away since they thought they were going to make a sale. When we chose to and did not get anybody to answer we were told to leave a message and they might contact us within 24 hours that's a long time to wait when you have a question about something you paid a lot of money to build especially when the question has to do with where are my instructions.

The products from Shelter Logic are flimsy and are unable to withstand normal winter weather. (I'm in Michigan.) They won't honor the warranty if they can say damage to the structure was caused by "nature." We thought it would be a good way to protect our boat from winter weather while we waited to build a permanent pole barn, and our money would have been far better spent on storing it at a facility. Not only are we out the price of the shelter (it's completely unusable now), but our boat has been damaged because of this poor choice. We had a very mild winter here this year, and we put the structure behind a shed and along a privacy fence for extra shelter from the wind, etc. but the thing started having problems 3 days after we finished building it. Among the list of issues are that the poles are bent, the tarp has torn off the frame, and the zippers wouldn't stay closed on either door. My advice is to look elsewhere. These products are a waste of time and money.

                      Good unit for the money!
One of the arches was jigged wrong so the holes were set for the opposite end, had to drill them the other way so one of the arches has extra holes. People complain about the directions but if you've built anything it isn't too hard to follow and figure out the gaps. Plus with pics and videos online it isn't hard. I built mine with 4x8x16 concrete blocks under each post. Thus far there is ground cover fabric and a 12x20 tarp on the floor. Moisture is much better after those steps. I plan to put some kind of crushed stone aggregate on the tarp for the final floor. We will see how it makes it thru nh winters. I plan to keep it brushed off asap and clear it from the sides. Will be good for storage that is overrun in the garage. Photo is before final tightening and alignment of the front door panel. I added 2 grommets to each door end and added canopy bungies with the ball end knotted to a washer so the can hang just inside. I added tubing at the bottom of both doors. Biggest tip is I added outdoor duct tape around metal joints in the tubing and over carriage bolt heads to protect the tarp. Not in directions but rhino shelter, who is a competitor, recommends it...

Easy to follow instructions, shelter went up with the help of 4 people with little to no problems. All was completed within an afternoon except for some ancillary items which I will install as time permits.(I.e. Lights) Shelter just withstood a major storm this past weekend without any problems. Quite happy with the shelter at this point. Photo below was taken by me upon completion

The Shelter Logic tent at 15x40x16 is priced well. It arrived in the timeframe promised for delivery. The packaging did not have the installation instructions - but a quick call to Shelter Logic and they e-mailed that information immediately. Two little pieces were missing and I called Shelter Logic again and they shipped them immediately with no hassle.

Pay Attention and Love your Barn
Ok, Where to start? First, dont get confused by the pictures on the HD website. They used the same picture for the 12X24 as the 12X20. There is 4 feet between each set of frame legs on each model. Don't worry about the instructions. It's not rocket science. Seriously. A few minutes to read through them all will get you 98% through it if you're a do it yourselfer, but if you are not 'handy' then, you may want to get somebody to help you. I was not in a hurry and was able to construct it alone. Umm you will notice they have some quality control issues as other customers point out on other products; holes on some connectors that will NOT line up; welding slag on the connectors that would quickly shred the cover. I filed them down smooth and painted them. Void my warranty? Ha! Don't try putting your cover over those jagged metal bubbles. Protect your investment. Take a little time, fix that small problem and enjoy the process. You'll also notice they have a problem with the orientation of the pieces of the connectors when welding them. They are sometimes angled the wrong way. This makes the frame all whacked after you bolt it together. Before you put the cover on, take the time to use a heavy duty ratchet strap or whatever means and work the humps out until it's true. Same with the feet; don't worry about the stub's angle in relation to the bolt pattern. Set the feet all pointing the right way and after it's bolted together, there's enough give so that the frame legs will line up (with a little massaging). Remember- its a temporary shelter not a Governor's Mansion. Note: do not get thrown off by the number of feet in the kit. It uses 3 on each side for the bottom of the mid frames and a tubular elbow instead of a footpad at each of the four corners on the end frames. This is well illustrated in the instructions and the part I should have paid more attention to! Also- anchors INSIDE so as not to interfere with the apron that lays on the ground OUTSIDE for a nice weatherproof fit.

Sturdy, Great Value, Easy to Install
First of all let me say that we live on the open prairie of Wyoming. We regularly get 30+mph wind and often gusts over 50mph. I was skeptical that a soft-sided shelter would work for our situation, but after some research I opted to give this entry level unit a shot. Also, before installing the shelter I did sink 6' posts in concrete and install a 6-foot fence on both the west and north sides of where the shelter was to be installed. Given our wind situation, this seemed like a necessary safeguard. As for the shelter, it is made from high quality tubing, a great baked finish, and a "good" quality tarp-type cover. The frame is very solid and has alreay proven itself in 50mph wind gusts that blew in just hours after I finalized installation. Only time will tell if the cover withstands constant jostling and the winter's snowload. It seems a little think for a "three layer" cover, but, the ripstop has already proven itself where I accidentally nicked the cover. It is not spreading. As for installation, I INSTALLED THIS LARGE SHELTER BY MYSELF. Frankly, I don't recommend it. Tha manufacturer recommends "3 or more persons" for installation. I did it myself using my tractor to hoist the 100+lb beams into the air. I completed the structure in about 10 hours spread out over a weekend. It can be done but it was a lot of work. My only real complaint [assuming the cover holds for several years] is the instruction manual. It is very sparse on details and even moreso on pictures. I have a lot of mechanical apptitude and I found myself searching for clarity on the skimpy instructions. But once I grasped the concept of a particular section the assembly went pretty quick. Keep the cover as tight as possible as any movement with eventually lead to wear. Also, I suggest supplying your own anchor system for the bottom of the front and rear panels. With the kit it is designed to just hang loose. But they move a lot. Overall, this is a great shelter at a real budget price. All together with the 2-sided wall I built and the 2-car garage size shelter, I have just under $2k in the project. If the cover holds up to the elements, I'll love this shelter. I have no doubts about the stout frame.

This is my 2nd winter and this Shelter is great! Pretty easy to put together if you have 2 people. Not sure why all the hate.

The cover is only meant to last between 1-3 years! I sadly found this out when I contacted customer service two years after purchasing. The cover is deteriorating and replacement cover cost almost twice as expensive as the original kit did! It doesn’t seem to be apparent how short the life of the cover is in the description of the item. I wish shelter logic would make it right, or more apparent that these covers don’t last very long at all.

Hello, yes the standard cover-kit is a polyethylene 7.5oz life expectancies 2-3 years max with 1-yr warranty. We also offer many replacement cover options, including heavier materials that may have longer warranties and life expectancies. If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to call us at 1-800-932-9344. http://www.shelterlogic.com/support/forms/warranty-claim/ ShelterLogic
Item was delivered to store two weeks late. Item was damaged and several boxes were damaged. Cannot believe the store accepted this way and " thought" that I, the customer, would be okay with it.

sturdy and fairly easy to put up with about 4 people to raise it. Instructions not the clearest but we got it done.
