Scotts Lawnmower
This lawnmower has worked very well for us. My sons take it out to the lawn and away they go. I like this product as does not require electricity or gas. My son goes out and does the lawn. It cuts the grass very well and was easy to push.

    Not Happy
I just bought this mower and hate it. I have a very small yard and thought this would be the perfect mower. It's a pain to use. Any little thing jams up the blade, the handle is flimsy and it is not good for long grass. I am returning it today.

      Won't cut tall blades
I guess this mower would work well for just thick grass, but anything tall even though spindley, it will not cut..it just bends over. Short, thick grass cuts okay. Unfortunately, I have taller weeds in my shady yard.

I am very impressed. Easy to push and works well. What a treat to cut the grass and not have to wear ear protection

          A very nice product
If I could make one recommendation to the company, I'd say that the mower should already come with the softer handle grip already assembled. It took me at least 20 minutes even using the diswashing detergent they recommend to help the grip slide on easier. As for how it works -- I recently moved into a house that was unoccupied for 9 months, so the lawn wasn't kept up with that often. Lots of bare spots and terrible sticky and long weeds. My first time using this, I was frustrated -- but, I did realize it was my own fault -- because I really needed a weed wacker or to pull out the weeds first. This is really not made for that at all. It is made for maintaining your grass at a nice length. Now that the yard is cleaned up... I am really happy with this lawn mower. It's great for weekly maintenance being that it rains so often here in Florida, and the grass grows really quickly. It rides nice and smooth... and does the job well.

            sad to say
I purchased the Scott's Reel Mower because it is better for the enviornment, but beware, it will only cut regular length grass, it won't cut any weeds, tall grass, crabgrass or dandelions. It would work great for perfect lawns (golf course grass), but if you have any weeds that pop-up, you'll have to use a weed wacker or cut them by hand. I really wish it would cut my lawn. It felt great to use it, I want to go-green as much as possible, but after I finished cutting the yard, it looked like I missed large areas. The mower itself is built well, easy to push, fun to use, but it's made for weed-free lawns.

              Great on my St. Augustines
My front yard is lush thick St. Augustines. It's not very large and this mower does a fantastic job on it. My once weekly mowing doesn't take any longer than with a power mower, and I hear it is better for the grass--not as destructive. My back yard is a big mess of fast growing weeds, for that yard I still use a power mower. If a weed is longer than about 10 inches this mower doesn't cut it at all. So if you have a nice slow growing yard this is great, if you have a mess of fast growing weeds this may frustrate you.

                I love this mower
I bought this mower as a replacement to a self-propelled gas walk-behind mower. I had used reel mowers previously at golf courses and really liked the results, although those were hydraulically powered and spun quite a lot faster. I had to knock down some high spots with a weedeater before mowing my yard with this one, but once I got all the tall weeds taken care of, the mower worked great. I really love mowing and not smelling like exhaust fumes, gas, and burned grass like I used to after mowing. It doesn't kick up dust or clippings either, so I can mow and not get nearly as dirty. We can have our cats in the yard and they don't freak out, and my wife even mows sometimes now. All in all, this mower has surpassed my expectations and I highly recommend it. As long as any tall or thick weeds are either killed with a weed n feed type fertilizer or knocked down with a weedeaster, it has worked great and leaves a nice cut behind. I'll probably never have another gas mower again. I might buy an Neuton electric when i get a bigger yard, but I'll keep this mower for many years.

A Reel Mower - Really Good!
After years of city living, we decided to move our growing family to the suburbs and realized as the temperature got warmer that one of our first outdoor acquisitions would have to be a lawn mower. I've used gas mowers in the past, both walk behind and riding. Never used a reel mower before, though, although I've seen them around (usually being discarded on trash day). But I wanted to buy something that was environmentally friendly. I was extremely pleasantly surprised with this model. Assembly required no tools and was done in about 15 minutes. The mower comes preadjusted from the factory. I found using this to require about the same amount of effort as pushing a gas mower. This mower has several advantages: - No direct use of petroleum products whatsoever - no gas, no oil, and therefore no safety or environmental concerns that go with these products. - No concerns about stuff discharging out the side at high velocity. Pebbles, etc. can hurt people and damage siding. - Much quieter than a gas mower. - Cleaner cut than gas. A reel mower's cutting action is like a scissor. A gas mower is more a tear. Some items that one should keep in mind, though: - Unlike a gas mower, you can't use a reel mower to mulch. - You also can't let your grass get too long, or else it will become difficult to operate the reel mower. The mower has a comfortable grip -- but it's a foam grip that I can foresee breaking down with use or abuse, so I'll plan on replacing that every so often. Also, there is a way to fine tune the blades; if you are not mechanically inclined, this may present a problem in the event that the adjustment goes out of whack. But overall, I am very pleased with this mower. It's the widest I've seen and is still quite maneuverable.

                    excellent
Excellent mower that pushes with ease, cuts nicely, smooth to the push, stays clean and is good for the enviornment. What more do you need? Go with the Scotts, the 20" size is best.....

                      I am very pleased
I am not a fan of gas powered mowers and I really needed something for a large yard. I am so pleased with this reel mower. It cuts great and does not take much effort (especially since I am a woman). I had a little trouble is areas where the grass was really thick but if you don't let the yard get overgrown then you won't have any problems.

1st Try This Morning and It Works!
I was very skeptical about this mower and read several web sites before taking the plunge and plunking down my 130 bucks for it yesterday. It took about 30 minutes to put together (I gave up on the grip that goes on the handle but I don't really need it). Mowing our small yard took about the same amount of time as normal. The mower is very quiet and does not leave you smelling like lawn mower gas fumes like a gas mower would (since it doesn't use gas). I mowed this morning while my wife was still asleep and had no fear of waking her. We'll see how it goes over the next few weeks but if the first try is any indication, I won't be going back to a gas mower. BTW: If you buy it at your local Home Depot, check with the sales staff. They will guarantee that you like it or you can bring it back in 30 days (even if has been used a few times).

                          Great mower!
I purchased my Scott's push reel mower from the Burnsville, MN. Home Depot, and I love it! It is extremely easy to push, even more so than my old gas engine mower. It also can be turned and reversed a lot easier than a conventional mower. The cut it makes is smooth and even, and the quiet while mowing is quite restful. I have no trouble using this on my lawn, which is just shy of a half acre in size. Great quality, well-built, environmentally friendly, and even made in the USA.

                            Great manual mower.
Easy maintenance, easy to use, and easy to carry. This is a great mower for small yards or if you are starting to grow grass seeds. Unlike electric or gas mowers, there is no noise, and it will not destroy your grass seeds.

                              Push reel mower
This is environmentally friendly, quiet and nothing to fill up or break down. The grass-catching basket I bought separately doesn't work as well as hoped, but the mower works well as long as the grass isn't too wet or too long. Good way not to pollute!!
