Interesting and beautiful habitat - nothing like a typical Mahonia. The leaves are soft (hence the name, "soft caress"). However, when a plant is hardy in Zones 7-9 - and you live in Zone 7 - it's best to stay clear, especially if you're prone to the Polar Vortexes of late. The last extended period of temps near zero killed a pair we had in a terrace planting. We will replace them with something that can take the extended severe cold. If you live in Zone 8 - then Soft Caress may be a good choice for your landscape.

The mahonias came in on time and in secure individualized boxing. Plant was healthy upon arrival. Planted a couple days after arrival and the mahonias are already growing new branches!
