In order to deliver that superior product our paint is loaded with high quality pigment. Shaking vigorously for at least one minute once the mixing ball begins to rattle prior to painting and throughout the painting process keeps everything in the can mixed perfectly, which allows for proper spray from the can. I really liked the look and feel of this paint...
I really liked the look and feel of this paint for my project. I did have to use 2 cans to cover it which I’m guessing is because of the texture, where a normal spray paint would have covered with 1 can. But I’m definitely using it again.

It sounds like the nozzle was clogged that's located on the can of the Rust-Oleum Stops Rust MultiColor Textured Paint. Inside the can is a dip tube that pulls the paint from the bottom of the can to the tip. If the pigment in the paint is too big or if there’s not enough pressure behind it, it can get stuck in the tube or tip and the paint won’t spray. Try turning the can upside down and spraying for a few seconds. If the clog is in the tip, soaking it in mineral spirits should clear it out. If these two tips don’t fix the problem, call us at 877-385-8155 to discuss further. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 1

Paint left variegated colors which was the effect I was looking for. Keep shaking the can up and down during spraying to keep the nozzle unclogged. If it becomes clogged, turn the nozzle on the can and try again. Shake and shake until it sprays again. Can says remove nozzle and clean out with spirit

Thank you for sharing your experience, Teresa! Try spraying the can of Rust-Oleum Stops Rust MultiColor Textured Spray upside down for a few seconds. If that doesn't work, wiping the nozzle with mineral spirits should clear it out. It is also very important to vigorously shake the can for 1 minute beforehand as well as during application to ensure any settled pigment is dispersed. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5

I applied quickly, had I been more careful it would...
I applied quickly, had I been more careful it would have applied onto the surface more evenly. I needed a color that looked like rust, Rustic Umber is the perfect color for the rust look. In the spots where I applied the Rustic Umber too heavy it looks a little milkier than the rest of the application, but I was looking for the rusted look and this was perfect. Very happy with the look of my project.

Thank you for the feedback! To help with the coverage of Rust-Oleum Stops Rust MultiColor Textured Spray, you can apply a solid base coat of paint or primer that is close to the color of the Multicolored paint. This product will not cover quite as well as solid colors, due to the texture of the finish and the flecked color appearance. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5

The paint came out of the nozzle like a fire...
The paint came out of the nozzle like a fire hose. Solids did not mix well when shaken. Maybe I did not shake it long enough. Poor coverage. Product seemed like there was too much pressure in the can. Almost all of the paint was wasted. I’m giving up on this one.

That is not what we like to hear! Since our Rust-Oleum Stops Rust MultiColor Textured Spray contains a high-solids, textured coating, a high-volume nozzle is used with this product. This means that the coating sprays more forcefully from the nozzle than a regular spray paint. We recommend testing on a small scrap surface first to get comfortable with the spray pattern before beginning on the surface being painted. Keeping the can moving during the application is important, as is shaking the can thoroughly prior to use. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2

I can't remember having any problem with any Rustoleum product, until this. The main problems are:
(1) A whole can covered about 2 sq. ft., and
(2) the color is a LOT lighter than the lid (and image above) indicates.
I bought 4 cans and after the first one went empty so fast, whoa!!, took the other 3 back for a refund (HD doesn't take empty cans back, even if you are unhappy.) I saw another review where Rustoleum said this doesn't cover as much or as well as regular paint, but really, they must be joking with this product.
I then bought 6 cans of regular flat brown paint (the under $5 ones). Only did a quick test so far and . . . it covers like you would expect paint to cover!!

Let's talk about this, Jake! For the best coverage with Rust-Oleum Stops Rust MultiColor Textured Spray Paint, we do recommend applying over a similar color basecoat. We also recommend applying several light coats a few minutes apart, verses one heavy coat.
