MAKE YOUR APPLIANCES NEW AGAIN!!
Love this product, ran across it while looking thru the store. Always wanted a black fridge. 2 cans and 2 hours of work, looks like it just came off the factory floor. Then i did my deep freeze. Little more work there but looks spectacular. I will never let my appliances look dingy ever again!

I didn’t have good results
It didn’t coat evenly. Painted a white almost new refrigerator and there are shiny spots and dull areas. I will roll it to correct hopefully.

Let's see what we can figure out. For best results, after vigorously shaking the can for at least one minute, apply two or more light coats of Rust-Oleum Specialty Appliance Epoxy Spray in steady back and forth motion, holding the can 12-16" from the surface. Be sure to slightly overlap each stroke, this will ensure excellent coverage and gloss.

Work's great. I used it on the bottom of my mower deck. Makes it easier to clean and it's a heavy duty real durable finish.

Great Paint - buy extra tips
What a great paint. OK, my tip clogged too but I keep spares on hand. I shook for two minutes (I am used to West-System epoxy) tip clogged right away and started spitting. Changed tip and finished the whole can. I am using this over a SEM sandable primer on my son's firewall before we install heat & sound dampening. All epoxy paint will be 100% encapsulated and will never see the light of day. I use denatured alcohol buy the gallon and T-shirt (cotton) rags to prep.

      Disappointed
I always like to give a product a try despite some of the negative reviews. Should've saved my time with this one. Extremely disappointed. Followed the directions for application and it turned out very splotchy, with an uneven shine.

Something is amiss here Bri! Rust-Oleum Specialty Appliance Epoxy Spray should provide a beautiful consistent ultra hard finish. For best results shake the can vigorously for at least one minute once the mixing ball begins to rattle, also shake frequently during use. Hold can upright 12-16" from surface and spray in a steady back and forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke. Keep the can the same distance from the surface. Keep the can in motion while spraying. Apply several light coats a few minutes apart, several light coats provide the best results and finish.

SO disappointed in this product. We just purchased a new black refrigerator and wanted to spray my white dishwasher to match. Right from the get go it started sputtering and splattering drops everywhere on the dishwasher. I cleaned the tip and tried again, but to no avail, no matter what I did it would not stop splattering. This is even after I shook the can vigorously prior to spraying as the instructions recommended. I went back to home depot to purchase ANOTHER can, thinking mine was defective, but nope, same situation. I even waited the 7 full days (waited for a cloudy, cooler day in az) and sanded the splatters off before I tried again. Now my dishwasher looks like crap and with paint splotches all over it. I don't even know what to do to try and fix it anymore. 2 defective cans? I am a very experienced DIYer and have remodeled almost our entire house from tiling to plumbing, etc...never have I been so disappointed in a product.

Oh no, that doesn't sound right, Kelly! Certainly, it is important to thoroughly shake the can prior to use, and occasionally during use as well. The can should be shaken for no less than one minute after the mixing ball in the can begins to rattle. This ensures that the product is mixed well, and prevents larger particles from being sprayed through the nozzle. You also want to make sure the finger that presses down on the nozzle stays clean and free of any paint. It is important to have your index finger centered on the nozzle itself. If your finger is too forward it can cause some blocking of the spray mist as it comes out of the can, which can cause sputtering or larger drops to be sprayed on the surface. We want to hear more about your experience and try to make things right with you. Please feel free to call us at 800-481-4785 to talk about this more and make sure to have the cans handy! - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5 Rustoleum

The product did exceedingly above what was expected. The refrigerator did not show signs of having been painted, it look like a brand new refrigerator. Rust-Oleum always the better choice.

This is a good quality appliance paint for refinishing outer metal surfaces on appliances. I painted an ugly 18" by 48" aluminum plate outdoors that I prepared with sandpaper and a clean rag prior to painting to use as a decorative surface indoors with a can of this appliance paint. This paint produces a rugged professional quality finish equivalent to the original painted finish on an appliance if you follow all of the manufacturer's instructions printed on the can. Suggest keeping items painted with this paint outdoors for a minimum of 24 hours or more before bringing them indoors to allow most of the smell from this paint to dissipate further after the paint has dried to avoid having too strong of a new appliance paint smell indoors. This paint has a very durable gloss finish and adheres very well to most metal surfaces as long as the metal surfaces being painted are prepared properly prior to painting by removing any loose paint, dust or dirt, etc. with a wire brush or sandpaper. It is also recommended by the manufacturer to rough up a glossy surface being painted with sandpaper prior to painting to allow the paint to adhere properly. This paint must be applied when the temperature is between 50 and 90 degrees F [10-32 degrees C] and humidity is below 85% to allow the paint to dry properly. This paint is not designed to be applied on surfaces that exceed 200 degrees F [93 degrees F] such as range tops or oven interiors. A stove paint is available for high surface temperatures. This is an industrial quality paint and has very strong and harmful fumes and must be applied outdoors or in a very well ventilated area while wearing required safety protection or using other measures to avoid breathing the harmful fumes.

          Scratches Easily
I have sprayed many types of paint and this paint doesn't spray well. Even after following all instructions and multiple coats, the finished product looks good but has a rough texture and scratches very easily. If I paint appliances again I will use a high quality silver or grey spray paint instead.

That is odd, John. Rust-Oleum® Specialty Appliance Epoxy is an ultra-hard, moisture resistance enamel that is specifically formulated for indoor metal surfaces. We want to know more about your preparation and application to get to the bottom of why the product scratches easily. Please call us at 800-481-4785 to discuss further. Rustoleum

          Updating a Refrigerator from 1984
This product was very easy to use. We moved our old bisque & white refrigerator into the garage. Prior to purchasing the spray paint, I used a magic eraser on everything. You will want to clean your appliance with a degreaser, otherwise the paint will be splotchy in those areas (this happened in a small area, but I just touched it up with a black permanent marker). I removed both doors and taped off the inside with packing paper and painter tape. I laid the doors down and taped off the plastic gaskets/sides. Then I started spraying the side. The spray paint is much more runny then regular paint, so you will need to be very careful. I had a few areas that ran, but since I used black, it is not very obvious. Once the side was done, I did the other side. Then I did the front and then the top and some of the back. Then I did the doors, which I had laying down. This was much easier. I also sprayed the "wood" refrigerator handle. There is a ton of overspray, you will DEFINITELY need to be wearing a mask!!! I wore a respirator and glasses, and after I was done with it all, I could feel that there was spray paint in my hair - this stuff really floats around. I am glad I was wearing older shoes because they also turned black. I guess my point is to wear old clothes and please cover your eyes and mouth, as this is not like normal spray paint. I let everything dry for 24 hours, reassembled everything, and now I have a nice "new" shiny black refrigerator. The textured doors accepted the paint well and I definitely recommend this product.

          Wonderful Product!
I ordered this product online hoping to use it to cover yellow spots on a upright freezer . I had tried everything on the market to no avail. I was AMAZED! It covered the yellow spots in one application! I had some old plastic lawn chairs that were faded and looked awful, sprayed them with this, and sold them at the yard sale for a great price! And just wanting to know how good this could be, I sprayed a small CARDBOARD box and left in out in all kinds of weather, , rain, hail, and snow. It, to this day is still in one SOLID piece! I am ordering more today to paint the bath tub of a new place we are moving into. I LOVE THIS PRODUCT! BUT be sure to use this brand and no other! Other brands will run and separate!
