Customer Reviews for Porter-Cable 11 Amp Corded 1-3/4 Horsepower Fixed Base Router Kit

Although the 690 series is not Porter-Cable's most powerful router, it is the all-arounder. The variety of bases available, along with the OEM, and third-party accessories for this router make it a must have for a small hand-held. I have a larger table mounted router, but it was recently in the shop for repair, and guess what stepped up to fill the gap? Although 1 3/4 HP wasn't enough to turn my larger bits, it handled everything else I threw at it. This is one of the best tool investments I've ever made (especially considering I got the router, and sander for under $100).

I am an 11th grade high school student. The Porter router is the only router brand used in my wood working class at school. That just goes to show that it's easy enough to use and to control that high schoolers who are just learning the trade can use.

Professionally I used to have 3 of these routers set up for different operations. They are darn near bullet proof. If and when something needs to be replaced parts are very easy to get from Porter Cable and equally easy to work on. I am now looking to purchase one for personal use and will only get this one. I have used other brands from Craftsman to Hitachi, and this basic router is defiantly a must have in any wood shop.

I have owned one for about 2yrs. Works great, no problems with it. Good 1/2 router for the price.

I am a contractor but also own a wood furniture business, I would really recomend using the porter-cable router because in this line of work, working with a piece of wood and the right tool can turn furniture making into an art form, I actually consider some of the people that work for me, great artists because after you see what they can make out of simple wood (helped of couse by this wonderfull tool) you can't help but think that an artist did it. I will definetly continue to purshase porter-cable products for my shop!
