I sprayed this directly on a spider in my home multiple times and it did not kill it. It slowed down some once i practically drowned it but that was it. Im not sure what kind of spider it was. It was brown maybe a brown recluse im not sure.

I just sprayed a Hugh black widow and did not die right away. Put him in bucket and in the morning he was dead, so this stuff does work. Been using this product for years and always been happy

I have used your product for years and have been so happy with it. BUT hate the wand. For two years in a row, the wand has failed to work. I spray around the perimeter of the house and when I am half finished with the project and want to go to the basement to complete the application, the wand will not work. I see nowhere on your label nor on your website a place to ask for help. I keep shaking the bottle etc with no results from the wand. Help!

Love Home Defense don’t like the comfort wand. Have almost full container and runs but won’t spray. I buy the container with hand sprayer when I can find it.

I have used Ortho Home Defense for several years and I can tell you that it really does a good job of killing the palmetto bugs, ants, spiders, and other creepy critters that want to come in. Easy to use. Excellent spray wand. Just spray along baseboard and perimeter, and anywhere bugs can get in. I recommend this product to everyone.

The sprayer is bad about not putting out poison it works about half the time. But I do know the poison works

I bought this a month ago and while I know the Ortho itself is a great product for bug problems, the spray nozzle on this gallon Ortho doesn’t work. Not enough suction so it doesn’t spray.

Good product but the battery operated sprayer sucks quick working after about a pint of use batteries ok. Just would not pick the product up and spray. Tried to clean everything but no use. Don’t have receipts so wasted money. Will not rebuy until they change the delivery system What is the consumer to do with a cheap product like this when you like the product inside.

Have terrible infestation of black ants and earwigs. This product does not work. Ants and earwigs just walk all over this product. Applied as directed. Does not protect against anything. Don't waste money.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had issues with spiders in our sunroom. I sprayed the perimeter with the product and we didn’t see any for a long time! I would definitely recommend anyone looking for a way to cut down on insects to use this, especially by the doors.

This is the best stuff out there, better than the big-name pest control companies. Most of them have to apply a special treatment for brown recluse or black widow spiders, not sure why. They could use Ortho Home Defense. I've personally tested it on Black Widows and it kills them within a few minutes. Apply around my house and hardly ever have any bugs or spiders. It also kills Army Worms, found that out the hard way this year.

Recently purchased this not long ago and thought it was working well until a huge spider was crawling towards me mind you i use ortho often to spray barriers this time I grabbed the jug and went to town but the spider only moved faster away I was really surprised, then later that morning another spider was in my room and again I use ortho often highly disappointed

On our front porch we have an ash tray and in the ash tray we have a small piece of chocolate cookie. There was a pretty big trail of ants coming up on the porch to get the cookie. My dad grabs the bottle of ortho and sprays all the ants and ofcourse the whole trail leading up on the porch. HAHAHA never slowed them down. About 2 or 3 hours later I went out to smoke and they were still at it never skipped a beat, not one dead ant anywhere. After reading all the reviews I have come to the conclusion that they cut back on what ever ingredients is necessary to kill these bugs. Probably a way to save money. It used to be very good but now I definitely do not recommend it. Sorry Ortho.

After trying quite a few flea killer sprays and floggers with no success at all I seen ortho home defense. It was less expensive so why not give It a try after so many have failed and I’m sure glad I did. My flea problem Is solved and without an Intense toxic Oder. I did use It a few days until all the fleas were gone but no big deal since It comes In a gallon container and that means a lot to work with. Thank you Ortho for making a product that worked for me.

I have been using ortho home defense for years and have been very happy with the results. For some reason it is not working this year. Never had roaches nor fleas begore and now they wont go away. I have sprayed inside and out multiple times this time around and its not working. Whats up ortho? Change the formula?

Spent the better part of this weekend prepping the perimeter of the house. Sprayed everywhere (1 foot out; under the first row of shingles and the shingles; around windows and doors). Didn't see ants yesterday. Today, multiple ants inside the house - more than we've ever seen. Reread the label to make sure I followed instructions - and I had. Then I read additional information on this site which clearly stated - Shake Well. These instructions are not on the label that I read. And I don't know if not shaking well reduces the effectiveness of the product. So I'm undecided on whether I should go out and buy more, or find another product.

I dump this stuff in a pump sprayer and spray my entire RV with it every 3 months, from the roof to the ground. Haven’t seen a bug in it or on it in 11 years.

Me and my husband let some family move in after being evicted and having their stuff in storage. We didn’t know that with them would come roaches that had nested behind the fridge, in the cabinet, and in the baseboards. I used this product all weekend long and have barley seen any others not only that but I can spray them from a distance and as they fall they instantly start to die. I’m in awe over this product. We’ve used other products by different brands and they never handled the issue this fast especially not for the price!! Definitely recommend

I bought this yesterday because of inch worms, actually centipedes, in my basement. I sprayed outside of my house the perimeter and in my basement all door openings. Not one single bug this morning! I’m impressed!

I was using a company to kill wolf spiders. I still saw them even after each time they sprayed. I found your product on the internet and ordered some. I haven't seen a wolf spider since. Your spray works well. Thank you.

This product is both expensive and totally ineffective. Do NOT waste your money.

Bought recently. 1st time I used it the trigger sprayer broke after just a few minutes of use. Very cheap construction on the sprayer.

The so called comfort wand is a dud ! After a few uses the wand is useless. The product it self works well. but the COMFORT WAND is a joke !!! Don't aggravate your self. But another product unless you want to pour the product out of the container .

Since we bought our first home late 2017 we use home defense on the perimeter twice a year spring and fall. Our home is built on a slab in south eastern Massachusetts. When we first moved in we noticed typical random spiders and bugs under sinks and around doors so I immediately treated inside and out using this stuff. I now only treat outside as I have not since had any bugs at all in the house and just use as maintenance. If only our previous landlords had cared enough to treat we would have never had to see a single spider, and, or other creepy crawler as a renter. I will continue to be diligent in using home defense as a homeowner as it has proven to be more than worth it. Also, I have only had to buy the second gallon this year for my 1400 Sq ft home so one gallon lasted 3 years or 6 treatments.

This spray no longer works for ants unless they are directly sprayed. I soaked a 12x12 inch square and within minutes of drying, the ants reformed their trail right through this stuff. It is WORTHLESS. Please change the active ingredient.

Sprayer stops working after a short use time. No spray just drips

Have used this product for years on several different homes. Works great. I like to apply once in the spring, then several time’s during the summer months, then once in the fall. Works great.

I bought this last week and twice now a spider has walked across my bedroom floor freaking me out crossing over barriers I have sprayed every couple of days

Great bug spray if you can get the wand to spray. I have this at home and at work and both do not spray. I try multiple ways to get it to spray when needed. Sometimes it works sometimes it does not.
