NOT self watering!
These are excellent quality, but a water reservoir in the bottom is NOT the same thing as "self watering". Why would I pay more to achieve the same result as putting gravel in the bottom of my planters?

Hi there! To explain the "Self-watering" feature a little more: Capillary action allows water in the reservoir to soak upward keeping the soil and plant roots moist creating a self-watering effect.
Regular watering is required for the first few weeks giving the root system time to develop. Once the roots have grown down into the troughs of the planters, the plants will be able to pull moisture from the reservoir. With this system you will find the potting mix stays moist longer than traditional planters. To avoid over-saturation an overflow hole allows excess water to drain out.
Although "self-watering" containers still need to be watered they need to be watered less frequently than your typical planter.
Regular watering is required for the first few weeks giving the root system time to develop. Once the roots have grown down into the troughs of the planters, the plants will be able to pull moisture from the reservoir. With this system you will find the potting mix stays moist longer than traditional planters. To avoid over-saturation an overflow hole allows excess water to drain out.

I bought two of these in white. They’re high quality and unlike other plastic planters that can look “tacky” these look nice. The water reservoir is a wonderful feature for plants that have adjusted, requiring less watering!

Elegant Planter Box at Reasonable Cost
Elegant, large, sturdy planter box with a subtle lustre (black); gives the look of an expensive custom planter box at a reasonable cost with the additional benefit of being weather proof (although it is recommended by the manufacturer that they not be used outside in winter).
