Poor quality
I purchased this item in September/October 2022 and now 6 months later my bathtub faucet diverter is leaking most likely due to a bad o-ring? I need to either attempt to replace it or purchase a totally different brand; I will probably purchase a better quality diverter. I do not recommend this diverter.

Fixed Inside the Wall Shower Leak
Worked fine in replacing a nearly identical 40+ year old Stanadyne (predecessor to Moen) faucet. It had to be replaced to fix a shower leak inside the wall. The worn out O-ring inside the unit was allowing back pressure from the shower diverter blocking the forward flow to send the water backwards past the failed O-ring into the wall. The O-ring looks nearly inaccessible and not easily if all possible to replace it. A threaded pipe connection for a threaded faucet instead of this slipover thing the home builder installed would have been much better.

Accept the Gap
Replaced my Moen Monticello diverter spout with a new Moen spout from Home Depot. (Local plumbing supply houses did not have slip on spouts.) The first spout did not fit correctly (gap) so I removed and the O-ring washer became unseated. Tried for 2 hours to get it back into place, no success. Purchased another from Home Depot and installed it and accepted the gap between the wall plate and the spout. Used GE caulk to fill the gap. Note: I cleaned the pipe with emery cloth before installation.

The Moen Decorative Metal Diverter Tub Spout in Chrome is a slip-fit tub spout that slides onto the pipe coming through the shower wall and is secured to the pipe with a set screw. One option not mentioned, is that the length of the pipe coming through the wall could have been shortened to eliminate the gap described in your review.
