The receptacle is compatible with the wink hub. Only half the receptacle is controlled witch is great for table lamp control and leaves the other for regular use. If used with a wink hub, it will need to be reset to factory default so that it will pair correctly to the hub

Works great with Aeotec Z-Stick Gen5 USB adapter and InControl HA software
I'm just getting started with home automation, so I'm developing the system one piece at a time as I get new devices. This is device #3 for me; the first was a Leviton DZPA1 plug-in appliance module, and the second was a Leviton DZS15 wall switch.
I wanted to get started with as little cost as possible, at least until I'm sure it's reliable and actually useful, not just a fun toy. So I bought a $40 Aeotec Z-Stick Gen5 USB adapter and am using it with the free, limited-feature version of InControl Home Automation software.
A less limited version of InControl costs $45, and the unlimited version is $69. Those are one-time costs, with no further usage fees. It doesn't even require an internet connection, since everything is local, not somewhere "in The Cloud" as so many services, including Wink, are now (which I DO NOT like).
I'm using the InControl HA Server program on a PC, but there are mobile apps for iOS, Android and Windows Phone for users who want them. One reason I chose Aeotec and InControl over Wink is they do NOT depend on The Cloud and can be set up and used without a smartphone, which I neither have nor want.
I was apprehensive at first, having read other people's Z-Wave horror stories, but so far this has been very easy. Setting up InControl with the Z-Stick USB adapter, and then adding first the plug-in appliance module, then the wall switch, and finally this duplex receptacle couldn't have been simpler. I really like the fact that only one of the two receptacles is controlled by the Z-Wave network; the other is always on, just like a regular receptacle.
