It is a bit tempermental and VERY NOISY! You can only put in very narrow pieces of wood...
A good paper shredder would have been a better buy...

Chips, Doesn't mulch
I have tried two chippers at this price point. This one chips big pieces better than the other but can't chip things with a small diameter. Small branches often shred long ways, so looks bad and it can't be used as mulch. Many twigs pass right through. This one is pretty quiet though, so not a bad option if you just want to condense a pile.

Pretty good light duty yard shredder with a drawback
The unit is lightweight, compact and easy to maneuver. It is easy to use and safe if you exercise common sense. The safety is part of the design. If something clogs the shredder blade (a very rare event), unclogging is very easy. With the maximum diameter pieces, the shredder slices thinly so it looks like pepperoni and there is more load sound from the motor. But it always handles the recommended diameters. The exception is small twigs. They pass right through unshredded and block the exit chute, which is a disappointment. And the feeder opening is small which limits how much can be done at one time. There is a very handy pusher to use when feeding. The shredder handles dried leaves and small branches very nicely and produces a finely shredded product which is great for composting. You will need a pretty expensive extension cord.

Wouldn't advise a purchase
Product does an OK job on branches that are over an inch in diameter but, does a lousy job on anything smaller and leaves, forget it, they come out the same way they go in. I'm not at all happy with it's performance.

Exactly as Advertise
The wood chipper we purchased is and does exactly as advertised. We needed something small for branches. Having two crepe myrtles that we have to cut back yearly, this chipper is going to be perfect!

Chipper is close to useless
Ad indicates it will chip 1-1/4" wood. It gags on half inch twigs. We wanted it to clear brush, all of it smaller than 1" and we have to hire someone to do it because the chipper can't handle any of it.

OK for very small/dry material-jammed too often though...
Small input opening, only handles a handful at a time and jammed a lot. Green material mushed up and messy. Took me two days to handle what ended up being one compost bin (3' X 3' X 3') worth of material. I'll continue to use for small batches of yard cuttings, but not impressed overall.

Excellent little chipper
I have used the chipper twice now. It handled everything I have put in it (though I have kept it under about 1 1/2 inches in diameter). I did jam it once but it was very easy to unjam and reset.

We accidentally dropped a rock in and does not work. I have not had it for a month!!!!
I enjoyed using it at first. However, when we accidentally dropped a rock in, it stopped working. We are unable to use it now.

Unbeatable
I really gave the unit a workout! shoved a 1.5" limb into the chipper and it took it as if it were nothing! Cleared up a yardful of debris in no time. Best if you let the debris dry first, as the damp stuff with clog the exit chute Wife and I are extremely happy with it.

Does a good job
Shredder easy to use, only problem I had was when I opened box no hardware was enclosed to secure legs & wheels. Called customer service & they shipped me the hardware within a week. Been using it to shred over grown honeysuckle bushes. No need to force stems in, the machine feeds itself.

Does what I need
Assembled easily with a little muscle from my husband. Shredded the dry vegetable garden material easily. Wish it made smaller pieces and handled green vegetation better. The longest pieces were about 6 inches. I did not use it to do tree or bush trimmings.

This product is limited.
This chipper was easy enough to assemble, but it has several issues.
First, the entry slot awfully narrow & I need to very carefully insert the trimmings - this is not convenient when you're trying to do rose or butterfly bush clippings. You are constantly trimming the trimmings to fit, feeding very small amounts in, and using the push tool to get them to go down into the blades.
Second, you get inconsistent sized chips. Some are nicely chipped, but it does not chip/shred the finer twigs, it passes them on whole into the disposal bag, so you waste time digging the appox. 4-6" branches out of the bag & re-doing them repeatedly until they're done. I wish that the Sun Joe chipper had been available instead.
It is also nice to be sent this at the end of the month, 4/30, where I only have 1 day to submit my review to be eligible for this contest! Of course I open e-mail after work & it is too dark to go out to the shed & take a picture of the chipper/shredder.

Easy to use
This mulcher is easy to use, very light for good moblity in my cluttered backyard. Pusher works well, but wish it was self feeding. Works best with dry wood, as tends to have difficulty with green wood.

Nice lightweight mulcher
Mulcher works great! handles sticks and leaves from my eucalyptus tree.
The mulcher arrived missing the support rod for the wheels and the tool for tighting during assembly, so I am using wheel free, and the rod is on back order so no too happy about that.

I would have liked it to be a little robuster, but I did get what ai paid for. We will see if it lasts.
So far it has worked very well on the trimmings from this year. smaller branches tend to go through in 4-6 inch pieces.

It works as I expected
This chipper is ideal for taking care of the smaller trimmings that one typically has around the house. The spec shares that is can handle up to 1.5", but make sure it is soft wood and dry. I would not try to put a hardwood thru this chipper, but it is excellent for shrub trimmings, butterfly bush trimmings, etc. Make sure to let the trimmings sit for 1-2 weeks after cutting so they chip better and don't gum up the cutting blades.

Good chipper for the price
This is a good product for small projects. Don't expect to chip a tree, but it handles small branches and leaves just fine. Vegetation that is heavy with water will clog it, but it is very easy to take apart and clean.

Good for shreding small stuff
Doesn't do well with larger garden stuff, you need to cut it smaller before shreding. Blade dulls quickly, but it is easy to remove the blade and sharpen.
For the cost it is good for recycling the kitchen and garden refuse to make your own compost

Not what I really wanted.
I do not like the small opening at the top, it is difficult to put leaves and such in. I spend as much time picking up the over flow as I do putting debris in. Also, the shredded size is still too large, I end up putting the mass in two or three times.

Works great
The electric chipper works good, no complaints with quality or anything like that. The only thing is a design issue (which actually doesn't affect me). The bag is a little difficult to get on/off and stay in place. But since I primarily use the chipper to mulch the remains of the garden, IN the garden, I just let the mulched material fall on the ground, so it's actually a wash. Very happy with performance.

Didn't work for the type bushes I wanted to chip
We got this chipper to mulch bitterbrush twigs and pine needles. The twigs would not feed into the hopper and the ones we could get stuffed in came through with out being reduced to mulch.
The pine needles would not feed into the hopper without great difficulty and the ones that did go through were not chopped up at all.
We tried it on some small woody limbs and it did an excellent job on those.
Unfortunately, it did not work on the shrubs and pine needles we got it for.

Suitable for my lightweight yard cleanup.
The product should not be rated for 1-1/2" as only about 3/4" will feed well. The bag catcher works well and prevents chips from flying everywhere. It is lightweight and moves easily. If you don't mind taking your time it works very well for smaller limbs and twigs. It works very well for my small yard and provides me with a little mulch for my plants.

Very pleased with the chipper. It is light weight and moves around the yard easily.
The chipper is easy to move around the yard because of it's light weight. It is easy to use. It does not chip as small as I would like, but does a good job.

Better than expected!
This unit held up well as I have put it thru many hours of chipping/shredding/mulching.Has paid for itself by creating usable mulch.Removable hopper makes clearing out inevitable outlet obstructions quick and easy. Great for anyone with a small yard.
