A: No. The manual recommends against this. I tried and the leaves do get chopped, but not a fine chop. Green twigs and leaves just come out “stringy”

A: Partially, yes. This is a chipper, not a mulcher. That means the smaller the vegetation you put in it, the more long strands will come out. For better results, I let weeds and small brush dry out for about 5 days before I chip.

A: I don't see why not. Pine is a soft wood. We have Spruce all around our yard and we put small limbs and cones through it with no issues. Let the chipper/shredder do the work don't force items into it or overload it (dump large loads of loose items).Use common sense.

A: I did not l like this shredder. If you have a lot of very straight thin wood to shred it would do a fair job but odd sizes and shapes like vines or leaves or sticks that not straight you will be disappointed. Also it jams up often. I would not buy it again or recommend it to anyone.

Answer This Question
A: Probably not, it works on branches mostly

A: Hi, there! The FD1501 may not work well with foxtail weeds since they are very fine and have grass-like characteristics. This chipper shredder will not work on as well on a thin and light material. Thank you for your question!

A: Hello Skigs. Yes, the branches from your hedges will be easily chipped. Please make sure the material you are shredding is dead before you place it into the shredder. They green material will clog the machine. Thanks for your question!

A: Didn't try anything but oak leaves and the few twigs that end up mixed in--I thought the result was not at all satisfactory (after passing a batch through the machine 7 or 8 times the leaves were broken up only slightly more than they get just raking them into a pile--I'm thinking it would be even worse on hedge clippings.
