We haven't been able to test the Koolatron out on a long distance trip. The three hours we traveled with the cooler working met our expectations. Cool items stayed cold. It is the right size for the two of us, too.

We took a trip to Alaska & we were so glad to have it & not to worry about ice for cooling. We did plug it in our room most nights using the converter. If we were able to freeze a couple bottles of water & put in it, it really kept things cold. We carried milk in it & it stayed cold. As we were traveling in cooler climates we don't know how it would work in warmer ones. We did keep a blanket over it for insulation & made sure the fan was not covered up.

This is the brand and model I recommend. I've been an 18 wheeler for almost 25 years and have had several coolers. From my experience the Koolatron will outlast a Coleman, AND if you need a need fan (the only moving part) Koolatron parts are far easier to get online and in some truckstops. Part of why I like the 33 Qt, Kargo model is the heater-cooler is in the top, so venting is almost never an issue.

Works as advertised. I was worried it might be too small but it isn't for trips my wife and I take. I didn't buy the optional home electric connecter because I wanted to wait to see how I liked the car operation—since I do like it I will now buy home plug.

Took the cooler on our camping vacation where it worked fine for five days then gave out. Each day the cooling fan would make more noise until it finally stopped. Home Depot refunded my purchase but we have not yet decided whether to get another one of these or one from a different vendor. Unit was used in our vehicle or kept in the shade at RV parks where outside temps ranged from 50-80 degrees.

Sorry, but the cooler did not operate as it came right out of the box, so I had to arrange to have it sent back.

I plugged this in my vehicle for a couple of hours.. then when i went to open it it was really really hot inside.. am i doing something wrong???

I got this cooler as a Father's Day present my dad loved it!! His a truck driver and it came really handy!!!

Cooler will not handle a 2 liter soda bottle. It pictures a Canada Dry bottle but will not handle a 2 liter diet coke, dr. pepper, root beer or sprite. If you want it for cans and incidentals it may work but to have a picture of holding a 2 liter upright is misleading.

Shortly after receiving this unit, our refrig. went down. This happened on a Friday evening, so everyone knows it's going to be a few days to get any service, right? This unit, intended for traveling, was just what we needed. I have a 12vdc converter and the Cooler saved the days. Did a great job keeping our everyday stuff just like the Frig did, nice and cool, no noise either. We're looking to using this unit for our upcoming travels this fall. If you're wondering if it really works, worry not, just go ahead and buy it, you'll be glad you did.

We drove from SoCal to Frisco with stops in between and this kept our food and drinks cool the entire time. 5 days total. Normally we have to make sure our hotel rooms have a fridge to keep our food allergic son's special food and vitamins cool. With this and the adapter that wasn't a concern. Now we can book cheaper rooms and consider the cooler paid for. We ordered the adapter from Amazon. Just make sure you use it correctly or it could be set on warm instead of cool. There's not really a switch, instead cool/warm depend on the way you have the coolers built in cord connected to the adapters cord, pay special attn to the arrow. Only features I'd like to see would be a built in thermometer and a real cool/warm switch. Very nice product, wish we bought it sooner.

This cooler came in extremely handy on a recent vacation. However, if you plan on purchasing this product you should know that the P- 27 does NOT come with a divider shelf and the adaptor is sold separately.

After receiving the cooler, my wife and I drove 2000 miles with motel stays. We used the optional AC adapter to pre cool the cooler and to keep it cool at the motels. The cooler worked very well. I have not tryed it's warming feature yet. So far there are no issues and I am looking forward to the next time I will use it.

Does job as promised. Convenient. No ice needed. Quiet and efficient.

We bought this cooler to use on the road but, with the optional AC adapter, we found it makes a great overflow refrigerator during family get togethers. AC adaptor gets really hot so be careful what you set it on.

Good product. Very quiet and efficient. No issues as to noise, heat or latch as some reported. Size is very adequate and in fact its footprint vs. height may be the most usefull. I'd recommend.

Cooler works great for cooling; have not yet had a need to try warming items. Looking forward to this as we travel a great deal. However, we are MOST disappointed with the latch in that on the very first occasion that we used the cooler, it crumbled -- pieces broke off. Therefore, we installed a crome window sash latch ($4) which does the job quite well. The manufacturer needs to address this problem. In addition, the fan is noisy when in an upright position, but when placed on its side (so that the door swings open) there is no irritating noise. When traveling we have to keep it on its side. I you push on the plastic housing, the noise ceases.
