If you are installing this on a one-piece toilet which uses anchors, please use the existing toilet seat hardware as the Reveal nuts and bolts will not work. Some of our one-piece toilet models require specific anchor hardware, to accommodate the installation. In these cases, the existing hardware can be reused, or a replacement anchor kit (84999) can be purchased. Hi HomeDepotCustomer, this is Sarah with Kohler Co. I'm sorry to hear your Reveal toilet seat did not fasten or sit well on your toilet. This seat is designed for use on a standard round toilet with a 5-1/2" hinge spacing. The installation of the Kohler Quick Install hardware should be followed carefully to ensure it is tightened properly. The installation instructions are here: https://goo.gl/cZAGHW. The cone shaped nut needs to be pushed up into the mounting hole in the bowl (from the underside). If the nut is not pushed into the hole, the split in the nut will expand during use and you will need to continue to tighten it. If your hinge cover does not stay closed and your quick-release engages when you are not trying to remove your seat, the toilet seat bolts may be too tight. When they are over-tightened, the black hinge mount inside the hinge does not lay flat, which can cause the quick-release to activate prematurely.
