Used in a vacation home guest bath -- maybe 50 times in the past 4 years -- this seat has developed a crack through the entire seat. Whether it is a design flaw or a manufacturing problem, it doesn't matter: toilet seats should not fail in this way. Out of warranty, the best Kohler could do is offer a discount on a replacement. I declined. It makes no sense to spend even $1 on a defective product. Reading about all of the other people who have had the exact same problem, I think it is best for Kohler to spend their money on engineering instead of trying to deal with customer claims.

Ordered to go with Cimarron Toilet. It does not go past the porcelain bowl. The seat Needs to be redesigned to go past the bowl. If you have little boys or a man in the house, this presents a problem Received at Home Delivery, after waiting about 2-weeks. One of the bumpers missing on right side of seat. I was not willing to wait another 2-weeks to replace it, so we are using as is. Not worth the money I spent for it.

Installed 2 New Kohler Toilets, purchased this Kohler self close seat for the spare bathroom, already had a self close in my bathroom, put a toilet tattoo on mine. Love the self close and great price. Ordered on-line and picked up in store.

This is the second time this seat has cracked (in the same location) with less than 2 years of use and I have found that it is defective. My husband is 140lbs and I am 105lbs - we are not big people. I went to HD to replace and having inspected 3 boxes, there is a hairline ridge/fissure from manufacturing (same position) that you can see and feel with your fingers and is likely causing these cracks. The floor person also commented that this is a problem. Surprisingly, the sample model that customers can look at does not have the fissure and she indicated that those were different b/c the companies know that they get banged around while testing. This is only happening in the round toilet seats since the other 2 Kohler toilets have elongated seats and we have not experienced this problem. I ended up buying the cheaper Brevia, but I'm disappointed that I'm unable to buy the Cachet w/o worrying about it breaking again. In reading reviews from other sellers, it doesn't appear that I'm the only customer this is happening to. I really expected more from this brand.

I am 150 lbs. After using the seat a few times, I leaned over to get some toilet paper, and the seat cracked. It looks like a defect as the seam of the plastic is on the left side of the toilet seat where most weight is being applied. I check my other bathrooms and noticed that the seam is more towards the front where there is less weight. Either way, I do not recommend this at all. It is quite sad to pay almost $60 for a seat that is so poorly made.

I had this seat for just under a month when the fragile plastic clips cracked. Since this is a quick-release seat, it has two sets of jaws/clips that grab onto the hardware that is screwed onto the toilet. The problem is that these plastic jaws are extremely brittle and fragile. The left side cracked within two weeks, and the right side cracked within a month. It was very easy to install, but another problem that I had was that it never felt "solid" because of the weak hinge clips. It made lots of creaking/squeaking noised when sat on. The slow closing feature was nice, but not as fluid as the seat that I just purchased to replace. (from a different manufacturer) Also, the new seat that I have (which I won't mention due to the review guidelines) has a far superior quick release mounting system. Honestly, I can't believe that the fragile brittle seat mounting clips got past research and development. If you read the reviews, you will notice that I'm not the only one with the cracking problem. Anyway, I should have saved the box and receipt, but I didn't think I had to, so it's my loss. Save yourself the trouble and look at the quick release mounts in the store. It will be obvious which brand you should get.

This toilet seat is remarkable...I can't believe it's taken so long for someone to introduce this to the marketplace. The toilet seat itself is similar to other brands, however it can be removed so that cleaning both the seat and the bowl is much easier. This is fantastic! It should win the award for the best new product in the marketplace for 2007.

The toilet seat was almost exactly the same as the previous one. I didn't even have to change the anchoring bolts, the new one slid right into place with no effort.

Purchased this item to replace a broken one. I particularly like the design that made it extremely easy to install without any specific tools. Another good part of this design is the rubber feet that prevents the seat to slide around while you're sitting on it. It's important for us cause we have a bidet installed as well and our last toilet seat broke cause it wasn't as secure as this one.

I bought this and a cheaper, generic-brand toilet seat at the same time, this for our main bath, and the generic for our spare bath. This one is definitely much sturdier -- in particular, if you use your closed toilet as a seat, when bathing the kids, or clipping your toenails, or reading the Internet while you brush your teeth, the higher price is worth it for a sturdy seat. It doesn't flex at all under my 220lbs. My cheaper seat flexes (and the seat this replaced flips inverted, which was always startling!) Also I have this mounted on a bidet sprayer, and it's stable -- and the quick-release hinges make it easy to clean the gross parts between the bidet and the seat (but don't let me remove the bidet from the toilet). I feel like the plastic on the quick-release part is a little flimsy-looking but so far it's been fine.

Exactly what I needed. Easy install with quick release. Did some minor adjustment with release latches since little off. Otherwise, perfect fit. Don’t know why I waited to replace!
