Waste of money!!!!
The dishes do not come clean. I wish that I would have spent more money on something that works.

Hello Debb - this is Nancy at GE. We regret to hear that your dishwasher is not cleaning your dishes well. A couple of things to point out is to make certain that your water is entering the dishwasher at 120 degrees F (run your hot water at the sink prior to starting the dishwasher), select the "Pots and Pans and the Hi Temp Wash" options, and use the "Hot Start" option on the dial. If this does not help, please contact our GE Factory Service at 1-800-432-2737 for assistance. I hope this helps! GE_Appliances

Had High Hopes for this Hotpoint, but Came Up Tremendously Short!
Here is a review that I hate to have to write, because I definitely had high hopes for this product! I did a lot of research, spending hours and hours over a several week time frame, reading reviews, specs, details on dishwashers from many stores, and everything else you can think of, before making a decision on what dishwasher I was going to get. The dishwasher that I’d had for years, that had been great, had stopped working, and was unable to be fixed. I was very sad. After narrowing it down to the one dishwasher that I believed would be a good one, for what I could afford, one of my parents took me to the store. This is because medical problems prevent me from driving. One of my biggest goals was to get a model that had the good old fashioned turn dial, and not the ones with all of the computerized stuff, that repairmen and other customers said breakdown in a hurry. My old dishwasher had the turn dial, and worked like a charm, right up until the end. Two of the Sales Reps at the Home Depot store in west Knoxville, TN, took quite a bit of time, to listen to my thoughts on the research. A nice gentleman who had spent 28 years selling dishwashers said he understood my excitement about this specific dishwasher, but had another recommendation. He told me the one that he liked, and believed in, that was the exact same price, would perform better than my choice. He looked me straight in the eye, and said the one that he recommended had many more reviews, and was also the one that he would put in his own house. He said he would not take the one that I was interested in at all. He said I could do better. He made it clear that he was not in favor of this model. He also said, in the end, he was not trying to sway my decision one way or the other. He said the decision was completely up to me to make. Please keep in mind that he was just trying to be honest! I believe from the bottom of my heart, these comments were what he would tell any customer. Both washers were the exact same price, down to the penny. After giving me his advice, he walked away and let me take some more time to look at both, to think it over some more. The parent that was with me did the same. I was proud of how both of the sales reps dealt with me, and thankful for their help! A few minutes later, my parent came back, and said they believed more in the dishwasher that the salesman had suggested, due to some additional specs in the competing dishwasher, that are not in this Hotpoint, and the brand that was more well-known. I said that the reviews that I’d read on the competing dishwasher had me worried. The biggest complaint about the competing dishwasher, was that it did not dry at all. Even though this Hotpoint did not have nearly as many reviews, all but a few of them sounded quite positive to me. I did end up buying the competitor. My thoughts still stayed with the Hotpoint, that I had come to the store to get. I had the competing one for a few weeks. I felt like it fell in with the reviews, that I’d read and worried about. Those reviews about a real lack of drying, were true. The dishes from the competing machine were completely wet, after the cycle completed. That had me leaning back towards the one I wanted originally. Some of the reviews about the Hotpoint, said the dishes were dry at the end of a cycle. Home Depot took the money that I spent on the purchase and installation of the competitor, and transferred it to the Hotpoint. The nice installation crew removed the competing washer, and installed the Hotpoint washer. The management and total staff at Home Depot go out of their way to show how much they care about their customers! They know how important it is for each person to have the best products for their home. If you’re not sure about what you are looking at, while you are in the store, please ask them for help. I have always had good experiences with them. Listening to them is important! I’ve had this Hotpoint dishwasher for almost six months. Here is an honest review on what I’ve experienced. My Hotpoint dishwasher ended up exactly like the negative reviews that I’d read about this particular model. This does not even start to clean the dishes. I’ve moved around various dishes and pans in the washer, along with everything else, to see if that might make a difference at all. It does not. I’ve tried each of the settings and buttons on the front before the cycles. I use the Hot Start feature that this machine has. The water does get perfectly hot. If you don’t believe me, stick your hand in there once, while it’s running, and you’ll find out real fast. You also won’t try that again! It’s hot and it’ll burn you in a hurry! The only thing that this accomplishes, is baking the crumbs and any leftover bits of food onto whatever they’re in or on, especially on the bottom rack. Then I have to spend quite a bit of time, scrubbing those dishes by hand. Many of the dishes on the top rack are still fairly wet, too. Why pay a lot of your hard earned money, on something that does not accomplish your goals? The big thing that I seem to achieve here, is running up my water bill, for no good reason. Once the cycle is completely done, you’ll be amazed to see a lot of water left in the bottom of the dishwasher, because it does not drain well at all, either! I end up spending 10-15 minutes, working with a scrub sponge, getting the water out, and squeezing it out in the sink after each use. You’ll learn that if you don’t get that water out, in a few days your dishwasher and dishes will smell like a swamp! Even after all of this, I still kept hoping the results would get better, despite the anger and frustration. Call it cheering for the underdog. Today, I threw in the towel, and ended up calling GE’s 1-800 number that I’d seen under some of the bad reviews on here. A nice lady that handles complaints answered the phone. I explained everything to her. A few of the questions she asked were, is the water in the dishwasher hot, do you use a good rinse agent, in addition to the dishwasher soap, and a few other common sense ones. Here is my second question for anybody reading this review- if a dishwasher has to have a special additional rinse agent, on top of a name brand dishwasher soap, does that raise a red flag for anybody? I was pretty shocked honestly, when she asked that question and told me the additional rinse agent was pretty necessary. To me, that's almost their way of admitting that their dishwasher is probably not one of the best ones out there! She was nice to me during the whole conversation. She said the only option with this model, under the one year warranty, is to send out a GE repairman, to try to fix it. I was in absolute disbelief! I told her that with everything that has gone wrong with this dishwasher, it doesn’t need to be fixed, it needs to be GONE!! She said that is not an option. She said they’ll continue to send out a repairman until the one year warranty is up, unless I have an extended warranty. My immediate response was, “great, after the year is up in about six months, I’m stuck with a worthless dishwasher from now on, and lost several hundred dollars.” I told her that the only thing that this dishwasher is accomplishing, is filling a hole by the sink. Obviously, as the conversation went on, I got more frustrated. This comes from somebody who deals in customer service, too. I usually stay pretty calm during these types of conversations, because I know how it feels to be on the other end. I was not upset with her, just the problems with the dishwasher. Next week, GE is sending a repairman, to see what can be done, to possibly fix the problems. I feel bad for the repairman! After the conversation ended with the nice lady at GE, I called Home Depot, and went through the same process. They said I had to go through GE. They don’t handle these types of situations. I don't blame them. I wouldn't want to handle these situations either! Here is the lesson that I’ve had to learn from all of this. Similar to when we were all kids, and your parents tell you not to do something, but you decide to do it anyway. In the end, you get punished, because you disobeyed. If I’d listened to the nice salesman at Home Depot, who had a great deal of experience with these items, my parent, and the negative reviews, I should have stuck with the one that he and my parent recommended, and installed originally. Instead, I got the Hotpoint in the end. Now, I have to pay the price for my decision, each time I use the machine, with awful results. I guarantee that I kick myself for it every time. The dishes in the competing dishwasher were all very wet, and all had to be dried, but at least they were clean. What has come out of this Hotpoint for me, are not clean. Then, I’ve also had to deal with the other problems. This is all a completely honest review. I want to help anybody else that I can. Please take the necessary time to consider all of this, before wasting your time and money, on an item that did not get the job done for me. I spent weeks doing all of my research on dishwashers from various stores, but obviously that wasn’t long enough. If I’ve spent most of the night writing this, to try to save you the trouble and heartache, I obviously must be pretty disappointed! Please don’t put yourself through what I’ve done. You can count on the reply from GE below to say, “We’re sorry to hear about your unfortunate experience. Please call the 1-800 number, to see if we can help.” I think GE needs to sell better equipment! I can promise that I’ll never buy any of their products again, or recommend them to anybody!

      Not a great experience
I purchased this online because I went to the store first and the 2 Home Depot employees never got up out of their chairs. They were singing as I paced back and forth by the dishwashers. Not sure what was going on there. The installers made a mess changing out my old washer and used all my paper towels, then ruined 2 dish towels by sticking them under my sink and not telling me. I found them a few hours later, wet and dirty. Had to throw those away and no one at Home Depot seems too concerned about it. It's an okay dishwasher, but I had to purchase the most expensive dish detergent to get my dishes clean because this washer isn't that powerful.

Hello Shelley - this is Nancy at GE. We are very sorry to hear of your unfortunate experience with your dishwasher. You do not have to purchase the most expensive detergent to get your dishes clean; however, we do recommend to make certain the water is entering the dishwasher at 120 degrees F (you may want to run the hot water at the sink a minute prior to starting the dishwasher). We also recommend using the "Hot Start" option. I hope this helps! Thanks for providing your feedback! GE_Appliances

      Practical machine
Pretty straight forward installation although I think a installation kit should be included with the purchase. Machine cleans well and is not to noisy. I researched dishwashers and spoke to many people and decided to go with the good old knob and button selectors as it seems the electronic touchpads are the big problem with most machines. All in all a good value for the money.

      Solid Dishwasher: Gets Dishes Clean
Having had a Hotpoint dishwasher in a previous apt. and appreciating its quality, I specifically looked for another Hotpoint model. This one works just as well - getting heavily coated dirt off dishes. Also, I appreciate the energy-efficiency. My complaints were that the measurement of the bottom rack was slightly off, causing it to go a bit off the track. Also, a crucial hose piece was not included. But GE gladly sent me these things for free by mail.

Hello UnhappyCustomer - this is Nancy at GE. We are very sorry to hear that your dishwasher is not draining properly and are happy to help you. One to two cups of clean water at the bottom of the dishwasher is normal to keep the pump seals moist. If it is more than this, please check that the garbage disposal plug has been removed and there is no clog in the sink drain. Also, please verify the dishwasher drain hose is not kinked or clogged. If this does not help, please contact GE Factory Service at 1-800-432-2737 for assistance. Thanks for providing your feedback! GE_Appliances

        Really Big Mistake!
Product features: the dish racks are so tightly spaced it's impossible to load dishes the way they should be on the top and bottom. The glasses won't fit in the outside rows and must be put in the center where the bowls should go. Pots, pans, mixing bowls and regular size baking dishes will not fit at all, there's room for one shallow baking pan on the bottom side. Having to arrange everything so off set to make them fit will not allow even a regular load (forget overloading) and this is not energy efficient having to run it half full. Performance: The wheels on the bottom rack are not wide enough to stay on the tracks. When pushing in or pulling out the bottom rack, it falls off on one side or the other and it's not easy lifting it back into place when it has dishes in it. I would highly recommend getting another dishwasher, this one is a bad joke.

        What a joke...
The previous owners of the house I purchased installed this model of dishwasher three years ago, and they made an awful choice. This is the noisiest, most ineffective dishwasher I've ever had experience with. The unit is so loud that watching a movie, playing a video game, or enjoying anything with sound is nearly impossible. It cleans about as well as a blind quadriplegic gorilla with attention deficit disorder. Everything leaves the washer more or less the same way it went in, which is to say that if I don't scrub everything religiously before loading the machine, it doesn't come out clean. I left one of my pots in the washer to see how many cycles it would take to remove a slight film left behind from my sister's macaroni and cheese. Six cycles later, it's finally gone. The only good thing about this washer is that the heated dry is pretty effective.

        Stay Clear!
The old saying that you get what you pay for rings true here. I bought $300.00 worth of garbage! First off, the dishwasher arrived BROKEN. One of the cheap push buttons on the front is all wedged up. So I can only use the high heat function on my brand new dishwasher. Loud as a freight train and does not clean very well.

One of the cheap push buttons on the front is all wedged up. So I can only use the high heat function on my brand new dishwasher. Secondly, it doesn't wash very good. Even a cheap dishwasher should work when brand new. Several times I have had to rewash by hand. The pull out rack falls off the track...all the time. Not thrilled at all but I should have known better than to buy a cheap dishwasher at home depot.

        Button Control Dishwasher
My kids bought this for me for Christmas form Home Depot. I wanted something that did not have sensor buttons. The cost of this dishwasher was the same as having my sensor buttons replaced on my old dishwasher. This washer is LOUD, does not have a sprayer for the top shelf cups, small baskets and you need to pre-wash all your dishes. If you leave the dishes out and food drys on them or your silverware, they will not come clean without scrubbing it off first. It was a great idea, no more senors that go bad after two or three years, but I wish now I had just spent the money on fixing my old dishwasher. Don't buy, pay the extra money and get a quieter, more efficient washer.

            Piece of junk
I had my certified plumber install this product and it had broken parts and leaked....right out of the box. I purchased this product because of the low cost point but it is not worth it. I would upgrade to a better dishwasher. The good part, Home Depot sent out a technician the next day to repair.

            Presidents Day Special: Good Buy!
Our old dishwasher wore out after 9 years. I started looking on line, at Home depot, and other sites, but Home Depot had a better deal. I ordered it at my Bonney Lake, WA. store, and it was delivered in a few days. They even hauled away my old unit, for free. I installed the new Hotpoint dishwasher in a few hours. It is not noisy, and runs smooth, and gets the dishes clean. I was pleasantly surprised to see on the box: Made in America! I got a good deal! I would recommend this unit to any one interested in a good basic dishwasher. The delivery guys were great! Thank-You Home Depot.

              Buyer Beware
Poor quality dishwasher. Extremely loud when in use. Beware of manufacture warranty terms. As long as the dishwasher can be repaired by one of their service agents, the manufacture will not replace your machine (it does not matter if the machine was in your possession for 1 day or 1 week). It was discovered that our machine had a button that did not work (this is within 1 week of installation) and other defective parts and the manufacture refused to replace the machine. You get what you pay for.

I read the reviews before purchasing this product and they were all very positive so i purchased. It is a very inexpensive dishwasher and it works as a very inexpensive dishwasher. You pretty much have to wash the dishes before you put them in. it is basically a dish sanitizer. it is also very noisy and the silverware holder is impossible. if you put the silverware upside down they dont get washed if you put them right side up they fall through the holes and you cant move the bottom rack.
