Q:Can we pick this Hotpoint dishwasher up at Southington, Ct Home Depot?

      Answer This Question

A:  Hi, Our major appliances, such as this dishwasher, are an online exclusive item and comes directly from the Homedepot.com vendor's inventory where it is delivered to you directly. The item does not come from a local Home Depot store nor can it be delivered to a Home Depot store as this is delivered by a home delivery company. The way you see if the item is in stock online is by entering your shipping zip code into the field on the product page and once entered, if the item is in stock the Homedepot.com will advise 'Earliest Delivery Date'. The site will display at this point if the item is no longer offered, as well. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future. Thank you for shopping Home Depot!

Q:Why is there still one or two cups of water left in the tub at the end of the cycle? Our older GE...

        Answer This Question

A:  Hi DWdude- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for your purchase and loyalty! We are happy to provide assistance. Some water (standing water), usually one to two cups, remaining in the bottom of the tub is normal. If dirty water is building up over time in the bottom of the dishwasher and do not have an air gap make sure you have a high drain loop. A high drain loop is created when the drain hose is makes a loop at least 18 inches above the floor. Usually this is accomplished by attaching the drain hose to the underside of the countertop. Without a high drain loop or air gap, dirty water from the sink can flow into the dishwasher. The high drain loop prevents back flow of water from the drain into the dishwasher if an air gap is not installed. Note: The dishwasher drain hose should be connected to the house drain either directly or through an air gap. Do not plumb other devices into the dishwasher drain hose. Also, check the drain hose where it connects below the sink for blockage or a kink in the hose. New dishwashers come with a white corrugated drain hose, which should be used. Re-using old, worn out drain hoses may promote kinking and blockage. Make sure the kitchen sink drain is not clogged. If a disposer is installed, run the disposer to clear the drain system. If an air gap is installed, remove the cap and remove any debris. Using the wrong type or too much detergent can cause sudsing that can prevent the dishwasher from draining. We hope this is helpful. Q:How tall can glasses be and still fit in the upper rack?
          by|Jan 19, 2017

A:  I can fit a glass 7 1/2 inches into the top rack this dishwasher, that's not very tall. The real problem is the left and the right side of the upper rack, where you would normally put glasses, is not very wide, so probably three quarters of my classes cups and mugs do not fit on the outer left an out right sides of the upper rack. Even though this dishwasher appears to be a normal size which it is, the capacity is quite some. The dishwasher is also quite loud. Also it should be known, this is my second dishwasher, the first one was delivered and installed and never worked right from day one. Home Depot finally did replace the original one with the new one that works fine. This was not an easy process . Nor was it quick. To get Home Depot to respond it's like pulling teeth, they did finally take care of everything and the new one is as I said it's fine. The only redeeming quality about this dishwasher is the price, it was chosen for that only as it is a temporary fix. I plan on only keeping it for six months to a year as I am renovating my kitchen. Obviously I Will replace it with another brand

A:  Hello. This is Lida with GE Appliances. The available height in the upper rack is 7.5" so it may not accommodate your tallest glasses. Thank you for checking.

            Answer This Question

A:  We had this problem several times with our old dishwasher, and if you are not one to rinse your dishes (like my husband!), food and debris often build up and then the water will not drain. If your unit is new with a new hose / line and this is not your problem, I don't know what advice to give.
