Super easy to use. You can set up two different sets of temperatures, each with 4 different targets throgh the day for ex, Mon-Fri with Morning, noon, evening and night sets of temperatures, and the same for Sat-San. You can choose between °F or °C Cold and hot Adaptable for most of the equipments.

Got this today because our old one died. Our old one required you program each day individually The Good: 1. Easy to install. The mounting holes lined up with up those from the dead Honeywell thermostat, so that was easy. 2. Comes with labels for the wires so you can label them as you remove them. Wasn’t really necessary for us except for the “C” wire which is not used in a conventional heating/cooling installation. This is your fifth wire. You will only use 4 with this thermostat, so nip off the exposed copper wire, label it and tuck it away. The Bad: 1. Like everything today, thermostats are smaller, so unless your walls were painted before the old thermostat was installed, you will probably now have exposed raw sheetrock you have to paint. I had to. See my before photo. 2. The time display is rather small. 3. There is no way to view the current temperature setting except by reviewing what you have programmed. There is no “i” (information) or Current Setting buttons as in older models. 4. The Set, Hold and Run buttons are small, soft and wobbly. I prefer larger buttons with a solid feel and action. My 2 Cents: Honeywell could immensely improve homeowners’ experiences by providing a collar that goes around these smaller thermostats to hide the exposed sheetrock. I happened to have the paint to cover up, but if you don’t, you have a problem.

Was looking for an inexpensive but reliable thermostat to replace our original Carrier brand that failed after 22 years. This one was very easy to program, had the necessary features I was looking for without a bunch of unnecessary bells and whistles. I like that I can easily increase or decrease the temperature NOW and the thermostat will automatically return to the programed temp when it gets to the set program time. It has a "wake", "leave", "return" and "sleep" time schedule that you can set the time and temp desired. One program is for Monday through Friday and a second program is for the weekend.

2-star rating because it does it's job. I would have liked to click both yes and no for the question: would you recommend this product? Why? ...Because it is a cheap way to get into a digital thermostat with minor programming. Trust me, the programming is very, very minor. You get the same settings 5 days a week, and one other setting for the other 2 days of the week. It's not really enough, but I guess it's marginally better than no programming at all. These things are dirt cheap to make, and could cost a fraction of what they sell for. I ordered mine online from HD, and it arrived opened and taped shut- most likely a customer return. Returned items in that condition should *never* be sold as new to another customer; it should be marked down and sold as clearance. I took it back, and made them replace it with a new, sealed unit. The "new" unit works fine, but it has a flaw in the display- a sort of dark spot that doesn't photograph well. Looks a lot darker in person. See attached photo, and then picture the lower right hand corner much, much darker than it looks in the photo. I wasn't in the mood to go back a second time, so I'm living with it for now. Will it affect the life of the display? Maybe, maybe not. This is probably a quality control issue, as these things are definitely bottom of the barrel with regards to quality- they are very, very cheaply made. If you need a very basic programmable thermostat, this is the one to get. There is one cheaper, but it is only programmable for one group of settings that apply 7 days a week, which is pretty much worthless. If you can afford to spend more than this, try a more upscale model with better programming features...

This thermostat is simple to install and easy program. It works with 2 wire "heat only" systems (without a C wire) and most other systems as well. Works Great ! ! ! If you are looking for uncomplicated, easy to install, simple to use... This is it...

This thermostat was easy to install and works great.....I had to call the Honeywell help line ( I had the blue wire in the "B" slot, not the "Y" slot <AC was on>) and the tech I talked to knew what I did immediately! Works great and the backlight is nice. Price was very good. My only negative (very minor) is, as others have noted, to take the front off (when replacing batteries, etc) is very difficult.

Easy to install. Easy to program. Intuitive and saves time and money. For price I highly recommend.

This was so simple to do, I did it all by myself, was so proud, I bragged all week at work! My husband was impressed too! Anything boys can do, girls can do better! Lol!

This was the second least expensive digital, programmable thermostat in the store. If you are looking for a "basic" thermostat, and you dont need to connect to your phone or wifi to control your temperature, this is a great product. It was super easy to install. I've had it installed two weeks as of the date of this review, and I am pleased with the product. I used to have the round manually controlled thermostat, and would always forget to turn the heat down at night. Now, my heat comes on in the morning so the house is warm while we are getting ready for our day, and turns off when we leave, then comes on before we come.home in the evening and shuts off before bed time. So convenient.

Easy to install and use.

The display is a little smaller than I expected, but it's alright. Install was easy, though it doesn't include a wall plate. My problem is that the unit I received has some kind of dirt or dust stuck back in the corner of the display that is visible when the backlight is on. It is worse in person than the photo shows. Contacting support didn't help; they tried to tell me there was a non-existent decal on the display I forgot to peel and then to return it to the store despite the paper insert in the product box with a big red stop sign telling me to do the exact opposite. Annoying, but not worth undoing the install and returning to the store at this point. Quality control is apparently an issue. I will probably try another brand in the future.

The thermostat was easy to install, it came with lettered stickers to mark each wire and the instructions were easy to follow. The unit is easy to setup and works great for saving money on electric bills, the built-in light makes the screen easy to read without having to turn on a light. Due to my work we had to move quite a bit and because of the low cost of the unit I just buy a new one instead of just taking the old one. The only bad thing I found is that it takes 2 men and a boy to remove the cover to replace the batteries without pulling the mounting screws out of the wall.

This RTH2300 thermostat was a replacement of a Honeywell RTH221. They are essentially the same thermostat. Each allows for 4 different settings per day. The 2300 also allows for different settings for the weekend. It is easy to install. Simply disconnect each wire from the old unit and wire it to the new one. There are wire tags supplied to keep the wires from getting crossed. A complete owner's manual is supplied in English and Spanish. Per the owner's manual, this unit is compatible with: * Gas, oil or electric furnace. * Central air conditioner * Hot water system with or without pump * Millivolt system * Central heating and cooling system * Heat pump without auxiliary/backup heat My only beef, (which is not a fault in the thermostat) is that due to the different shape of the RTH2300 relative to the shape of my old RTH221, I had to patch up the old mounting holes and paint the area around the unit.

As many have found out, the backplate is extremely difficult to separate. You have to use a flathead and pry it open without breaking it. The problem is the backplate where the pins are inserted - they are way too tight. Once you have pried the backplate away, take a small screwdriver and gently push to the side both the prongs that secure each of the pins (see picture). Do it for all the pin holes in the backplate making sure you don't overdo it where the pin doesn't even make the contact. It will be a lot easier to pull out the faceplate when you subsequently need to change the batteries.

It is so difficult to separate the front face from the backplate that there are YouTube videos about doing it at https://youtu.be/j2WR9ibhdqo and https://youtu.be/rPhHhqvj_ig . Plus, there are switches on the bottom that I guess are supposed to hold the immovable face on, but there is no indication which position is locked and which is not, nor any mention in the manual. Obviously a poor design poorly executed. I can't imagine why they did it, and continue to do it.

As a new homeowner, I was anxious to reduce my cooling bill and decided to install a programmable thermostat. Having never done home maintenance before, I was somewhat worried that this would be difficult and I would need to hire a professional. This product, exactly as promised, installed in a minimum amount of time with the effort of a novice. The instructions are easy to read and follow. I have already seen a slight difference in my power usage also. **Hint: Make sure you have a very small screwdriver as the screws are tiny. I had to use an Exacto knife.

User friendly easy to understand and reliable, I had struggled with involuntary temp higs and lows and since I installed this it has given us peace of mind

I have had this product for only a couple pf weeks and I am more than satisfied. It has all the features that I need and it was very simple to install. It has features for wveryday of the week and for four different times during each day. In addition, it lets you know when to change the a/c filter and has a light for when you want to change a setting at night.

When I went away for few days I always set my thermostat around 45F just to keep water in baseboards moving. The problem was when I returned home, it took few hours to warm up my room to feel nice and toasty. This thermostat was the solution. I checked on internet several videos to learn how to install it and just got confused with all wiring involved. When I finally started working on this project, after removing top of old thermostat I learned, that I will deal with two wires only. What a relief! My home is heated by hot water baseboards and oil furnace. No fans, no heat pump, no AC - simple. But this thermostat can handle much more complicated system. Installation actually was not as difficult as I expected it to be.Temperatures can be set in Celsius and Fahrenheit degrees. Now when I go away I program my new thermostat to higher temperature for several hours before my return and I am enjoying my coming back home much more. This thermostat comes with labeling stickers for indicating any single wire, "Quick Installation Guide" booklet and "Operating Manual" booklet.

I love that I can program this thermostat separately on weekdays and on weekends. And using its' basic operations is very consumer friendly. I should see savings in my electricity from now on especially during summer season.

This thermostat is perfect size and so easy to install. It also has two different temperature settings that we currently use for a day setting and night setting when we go to sleep. All of the rooms in our home have all been the exact same temperature since we installed it, which was not the case with our old thermostat. It's also very easy to program and understand so changing temperature settings is super easy.

This is a good basic programmable thermostat. For the price, it is competitive with many lesser brands. Setup was a snap. I connected my 4 wires to the backplate, mounted the backplate to the wall with two supplied screws, and snapped on the main unit. Done. I am using the default cooling and heating program after tweaking some times a bit. You can see in the photo that in place of a white wire, there is a black wire on my setup. That is because, as is frequently done to save money, a heavy gauge telephone cable was used instead of a thermostat wire. The wire size and voltage rating was compatible but the white wire is now a black one. This thermostat does not work fully with a heat pump system with auxiliary backup heat. Many systems have that, so avoid this one unless you find out it works with your heat pump system first. I found that removing the main unit by pulling it out was easy and did not feel like it was about to break at all. There are advance programming features available if you need them, like heating cycle type, F or C temperature display, compressor time delay, filter timer. There is one big feature missing and that caused me to downgrade this review. There is no setup to adjust the temperature swing allowed. Most programmable thermostats have the ability to change the swing to minimize frequent operation or to lessen the temperature range. This does not and I found it to be slightly annoying to see the unit cycle on and off so often, more than I wanted.or was used to happening. Regarding the installation, there was one slight glitch. The unit did not work properly because the slide switch on the back, that selects gas/oil or electric, was set to a middle position that seemed to do neither. A simply cure was to slide the switch to the electric position for my use. See the red arrow in the first photo.

This thermostat intrigued me, because of its simplicity. I got tired of being the only one in the house that ‘knew’ how to set the 7-day programmable thermostat we had. This new Honeywell uses only 2 types of settings. This thermostat has one setting for the ‘5 weekdays’, and one setting for the ‘2 weekend' days. Those are the only options most of us need, and this unit is interactive. Anyone can set the time to wake the heat or cool cycles and when they need to be off for work or school. Then it will turn the heat or A/C on again, before returning home. Finally it will hold your desired sleep temperature, for the night. Everyone can follow the screens and have the adjustments needed. Compatible with multiple systems with settings for Gas or Oil and Electric heat/AC or heat pump systems.

Missing an easy off button for those days where the nights are cold enough for the furnace to come on, but the days are warm enough to want the windows open without kicking the furnace on.
