Replacement filters
These replacement filters are exactly what you need for your water filter system. We have had this water filter system for a few years , changing the filter when recommended. When it was no longer available in the Home Depot store , we ordered it. There have been no problems with the filters. (Came right away in the mail too)

We're very sorry you are not satisfied with the water flow coming through the system. The HDGMBS4's flow rate is entirely dependent on your homes water pressure, during testing we consistently saw 0.74 gallons per minute flow rate when the system was supplied with 60psi water pressure.

These filters are easy to install, but it's a good idea to keep a couple of tips in mind when you do so. For one, the filter replacements come with a battery for the R/O faucet base, so you don't have to buy a separate battery. Two, although the instructions that come with the filters say you do not have to shut off the water before installing the filters, I'd recommend that you do shut off the water -- especially if you have been lazy about changing the filters when the indicator late came on (like I was). That's because the old filters become saturated if you wait too long to replace them, and that means water will back up in your under-sink filtration unit: when you actually replace the filters, you might experience spurting jets of water (like I did). My husband said we should shut off the water before replacing the filters, which I wish I had done. Alternatively, you could stock a pack of filter replacements at the ready so that you can change them as soon as the indicator light comes on -- which is the best method. Third, the battery in the R/O faucet base is difficult to remove: use a pair of tweezers to grasp it and pull it out. The filter replacements are rather expensive at about $70 per pack. But the R/O unit works so well. And the filters last for six months, which isn't bad. We use a lot of water, but the filters were good for a full six months (not including the two weeks when I should have replaced them but didn't). You will have to flush the R/O faucet for more than 10 minutes to get good-tasting water after you replace the filters. The instructions say to flush for 10 minutes -- that doesn't get all of the air out of the water. Fifteen minutes probably will.

Water taste significantly improved and the filters can be replaced without turning the water off. Be sure to flush them thoroughly before use, there's loose charcoal dust and stuff that needs to be cleared out.

      Only lasted 2 months!
We installed our Glacier Bay Ultimate filtration unit at the end of July. It's now the end of September and the flow rate has become insanely slow. We are only a 2 member household, and we have one of the best water sources in the world (NYC water), and yet these filters only lasted 2 months! This should have lasted us at least 6 months due to our water usage (I drink a lot of water, but it's only 120 ounces a day, and I'm away from home at least 10 days a month!), and my husband asked me to find replacement filters as it takes a really long time to fill up even a glass of water. I timed it, and it takes about 70 seconds to fill 12 ounces. Our old filtration unit (which was a countertop model and cost a fraction of this unit) took maybe 10 seconds to fill the same amount. Now I'm wondering if we should throw out the $200 filtration system because $75 every 2 months seems ridiculous.

We are sorry to hear about the inconvenience you are experiencing. While this filter is rated for a 6-month filter life, capacity does vary with local water conditions and volume of water used and can therefore result in a shorter filter life. On homes with a large amount of sediment, we do recommend installing a whole home filtration system to reduce the amount of sediment in your water as this could be causing the shortened filter life. If you would like help finding another Glacier Bay system that fits your needs, or would like to discuss your situation further please call our tech line at 1-800-247-1087 and we would be happy to help you.

      Effective but poor flow
This system was easy to install, yet needed about $16 in parts to make it fit a standard water line. Filter works great, water tastes good, but the flow is SLOW. Ordering my first set of replacement filters (which are quite pricey), so hope they work better. If not, I will look for a different model.

        Good but expensive
We love the water filter system. It fits nicely under our sink and makes the water taste one hundred percent better. But the filters are way over priced. Especially compared to other (brand name) makes. Having to spend $75 (w/Tax) on filters every six months is a high cost. In reality, it would actually be cheaper to get bottled water actually delivered to our house. Or we could purchase the bottled water system and get the bottles refilled. The downside to this is the space that the machine takes up in a footprint. It is why we chose to go with an under sink system to begin with. Now if the filters lasted longer (say a YEAR), instead of only six months, then I'd be much more happy about the costs involved. I love that the system even has a blinking light to let us know when it's time to change the filters. However, in this case, I'm just not pleased with the price of the filters. Yes, they are and have made a noticeable difference in taste of our water, but is it worth it? For now, we will continue to purchase the filters. But if you look at the numbers, and if broken down over the course of a year, it works out at $12.50 per MONTH for filtered water. It's a high amount for sure. They really should look into why their filters are so much higher in cost over other comparable filters.
