It appears to filter water just fine, however, the first time I changed filters the base would no longer let water flow..

Excellent product
Really like this filter. Very easy to install, just a twist.
Water taste is very clean. I change filter every 6 mo.
As full time RVers, we use it a lot for drinking, making coffee and tea. Highly recommend this filter.

Was fine until time for 2nd filter replacement
I really liked this filter system. It produced great tasting water and was simple to install. I've had it just over a year now and have been quite happy with it. However, on the 2nd cartridge replacement I attempted recently, I started having problems with flow. The new cartridge was incredibly slow, barely a dribble. I put the old cartridge back in and surprisingly it was still just a dribble. After a working with it for about an hour, the cartridges got to where they would not stay screwed into the base once pressure was relieved. When I'd turn on and off the faucet it would begin backing off from the fully locked position. After only a couple on/off cycles it backed off enough to shut off the water valve in the housing. This is very disappointing.

Best Filter I've Found
I've tried various other filters from several other companies and this one is the easiest to use, removes more things (including lead), and produces the best tasting water. Unlike with some filters, you don't have to clean the inside of the filter housing when you change it. For under $30 each for 6+ months of life, you can't beat it. The flow rate is lower than some larger filters, but that's probably why the water tastes better--it's going through the filter slower so the carbon can absorb more impurities, etc.

Easy installation of GE water filter
This install was simple as I was able to drill a hole through my stainless steel sink and install the entire filter system. The filters themselves are twist lock and this is why I chose this style over the threaded type. I am very pleased with this GE product overall and no more pitcher filters to buy. This does the job.

This Refrigerator/Icemaker Filter Is Terrific!
There is a HUGE difference in the taste of the water and the ice coming from the refrigerator now! I mean HUGE! I have always disliked the taste of ice from icemakers so rarely used ice from any home icemaker. Even if you don't mind the taste of your ice, leave a glass of water out overnight with ice in it then take a sip of it in the morning and see how it tastes. Yuk! Mine was disgusting! Since I've had this filter attached, the water tastes great! It tastes WAY better than I expected. I even did the water-with-ice-left-overnight test and it still tasted great! This filter removes the odor-causing bacteria that makes water taste bad. I purchased the GE SmartWater Exterior Refrigerator/Icemaker Filter System (GXRLQ). This filter (GXRLQR) just twists off and twists on; it couldn't be easier. I highly recommend this product! What a small price to pay to have great tasting water and ice!

GE Smartwater Filtering System
This is a great home filtering system. I have had several other brands and none compare.
I would recommend this product to anyone.
