bowed fence
Out of the box the blade needed adjustment for 90deg. The adjustment cam screw is very hard to access at 90 deg as the bevel wheel blocks it! That’s bad design. Secondly, of all things the fence was bowed by at least a 1/16” from center of fence to end. That’s totally unacceptable and renders all the precision of the rack and pinion adjustment totally moot. AttAched photo shows fence against a square.

    Awesome saw
I currently own 2 of these. One for my house and 1 for business. It’s a great job site saw. Easy to transport, assembles in seconds and cuts like a champ.

      Antique Fireplace Pedestals
DWE7491RS 10” Table Saw with Rolling Stand and DW618M Router with DW6184 Fixed Base Review I recently decided to replace my 35-year old wood-burning fireplace with a natural gas fireplace. Unbeknownst to me, the existing antique mantle that was affixed to the wall in front of the original fireplace did not provide adequate spacing between the top of the fireplace and the wood mantle’s shelf. As such, when the new fireplace was installed the antique mantle needed to be raised approximately 14” if it was to be in compliance with latest fire codes. As a result, it was necessary for me to construct two 14” pedestal bases for the antique mantle to stand on to meet the new fire code spacing requirements. The photo Mantle Pedestal provided shows the left-side pedestal base. As can be seen, this pedestal base consisted of five precision cut oak pedestal facing pieces and the top matching cover piece in order to resemble the original antique mantle Thanks to the excellent accurate and easily adjustable fence feature of the DWE7491RS 10” Jobsite Table Saw the precision cuts needed were made with high confidence. Also, the 15-amp motor provided more than adequate power to cut through oak boards up to 1-1/2” thick with ease during this project. When it came time for assembly of the various oak board pieces, the precision cut capability of the DWE7491RS enabled them to fit together perfectly. Prior to assembling the pedestal base pieces together, I used the DW618M Router Motor with the DW6184 Fixed Base to provide a decorative edge on all the facing edges that was in keeping with the original antique mantle design. The easy motor pack removal for router bit changes and the precision depth adjustable of the router bit height feature of this tool enabled quick work of this task. The 2-1/4 HP rating of this tool enabled smooth and precision cove-shaped edges of the oak pedestal pieces. The photo provided (Antique Mantle) shows the finished pedestals installed to raise the antique mantle to the proper height. In my opinion, there is not a better Brand of power tool available for the construction professional or DIY (Do It Yourself) hobbyist than DeWalt. I do not use any other brand!

Very good table saw. I use mine for woodworking specifically and the results are outstanding. It's so good, it would be hard to believe anyone would use it at a construction site. Very solid, does not move when you cut on it. Easy to put on and take off fence. Of all the table saws I've owned, this is by far the best. It is a little pricey, but if you are going to invest in a new saw, I definitely recommend this one to you.

        An amazing saw almost flawless!!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my first table saw and I am not sure if I ever want to go to a different brand after using this. I am doing the window cashing and sill for my whole house and I ripped and cross cut a lot of wood with this saw. This is a powerful power house and a big win for your money.

This really is a great saw for the price for most people. So why the low rating? Read on… The good: Item came well packed and unlike other reviewers I thought it was easy to put together in less than 45 minutes, had decent (enough) instructions and parts in clearly labelled bags. The fence is fantastic compared to others saws in this category with the piñon system it uses, has plenty of power to rip through anything I tried, and a very stable/easy to move stand which stores in a compact area. The miter gauge is pretty sloppy as seems to be the common sentiment, but would do the job if need be. If I was doing much miter cutting would definitely buy a better guide. Blade was square out of the box and needed no adjustment, which was impressive. The not so good: The problem, as many others have noted, is the flatness of the table, or lack thereof. If it wasn’t for that issue, it would be a five-star review. I don’t expect carpentry saw quality for this price, but being a 1/8-3/16 inch off from flat seems a bit much which can be seen in the attached photo. I went to my local DeWalt repair shop and put the same straight edge on their display model (they had the same basic saw without the stand) and it was perfectly flat which gave me hope that I had just got a bad one that slipped through quality control. After an extensive search (and spending way too many hours) I ultimately looked at 10 other saws in 6 different stores at opposite ends of the county, plus two that were shipped to store, in an effort to find a good one. Unfortunately, it was all in vain and it seems that’s just the way they are made. Maybe others aren’t as picky as me, or just using them on the construction site and don’t care as much about accuracy. Be forewarned to check your purchase first to see if you can live with it. I like the DeWalt brand and it will be a tough choice on whether to live with what I’ve bought since in every other way it’s a great saw, or take it back for another brand.

              Simply: THE BEST
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this table saw last summer and it is not just the best job-site table saw I have ever used....it is the best, most well thought out tool of any kind that I have ever owned. It is astonishing to me that other brands have not copied this fence design. It is SOOOOO easy and sooooo accurate. I have had cheaper table saws, and I have seen more expensive saws (such as the Bosch model within the same price range (about $100 more, actually). But how it is that this type of fence is not an industry standard is baffling to me. I have, within the past year switched over to all DEWALT power tools.

This saw is everything it says it is and more. I am extremely impressed by the power and the fence (the way it's designed, it can't be misaligned). These are two reasons that it beats its competition HANDS DOWN. The only thing I don't care for is folding and unfolding the legs are a bit like a card table...seems that it should be easier (like my DeWalt mitre saw). To be honest, I haven't read the instructions, so I may be doing something wrong. GREAT SAW!!!

Two draw backs about the saw, the table on the one I received was not flat, and it's pretty loud. Everything else was fine. I kept the saw, didn't want to mess with returns, got it on sale for $549 online. I'm a weekend tinkerer, cuts precise enough for what I do. If you want to be picky buy a $3,000 sawstop.

I love the saw with it's on-board storage. I am somewhat handicapped ( multiple surgeries on my knees and leg) and even so I was able to set this up on my own, if I can do it so can you. I have not used it much so how will it stand up? only time will tell, but it is a Dewalt so my guess is many years. Yes I would recommend this to my friends, family and any one else.

I first I bought the compact table saw DWE7480, but I realized that I couldn't put a dado set on it, which was a deal breaker for me. So I returned it and bought this one instead, and I have absolutely no regret! Beside the stand, it is a nice upgrade. If you plan to buy the compact one and a stand anyway, buy this one instead, you will have more for the money, and size is roughly the same. Extremely easy to use, incredibly stable and sturdy, you can put any piece of wood, it won't move a bit. I love the stand, super convenient. The blade provided is for rough and fast cuts, buy another one if you need fine cuts. The fence is a little rough at the entry point, making the wood not sliding smoothly, which is an issue. Just take a chisel and nicely round the aluminum on the side of the fence, so the wood will not get stuck on it anymore. There is not a second outlet on the table saw, so you can't plug a vacuum in that would start when you start the saw. I use a pedal with the saw and vacuum plugged on it, so I can start both from the pedal, still, would be have been nice. Overall I love it and totally recommend this table saw!

Not just a jobsite table saw
I didn't have the room or the cash to purchase a cabinet table saw, but the Dewalt DWE7491RS is the next best thing. I cut a 1/8" strip off of a 3 foot board and it was dead straight. This saw has plenty of power and the stand is very sturdy, yet easy to fold and store.

                  Amazing saw
This table saw is awesome! I originally purchased the model below this (with the scissor stand) and then immediately returned it for this one. The mobile stand is super stable and very easy to set up and maneuver. I read a lot of reviews on this saw prior to purchasing and am very happy with my purchase. This is my first table saw and didn't want to regret my decision; buying cheap twice is always more expensive than buying nice once. Here is a quick breakdown, Pro's -stand assembly is very quick and easy (directions are straight forward) -the saw/mobile stand is very easy to move around and is very stable -lots of included accessories -haters are going to hate, the free blade is a free blade and it does its job well. If you have higher expectations and want a better cut quality, install a better blade. 24T is for rough cutting. -easy to adjust blade height and angle -the fence is great -can accept dado blades -dust collection seems good -great value, I purchased this online while it was on sale and HD had a promotion for another $25 off Dewalt tools > $100. Con's - the miter gauge is a freebie; it works but again is a freebie. If I was a professional, I wouldn't rely on free accessories to do my job. For garage and home projects that don't require OCD precision, it works well. - I haven't tried the dewalt dado plate yet; mixed reviews online have me confused on whether or not it is compatible with this saw. I will likely purchase this soon and see. If not, HD has easy returns and a homemade dado plate will be my next DIY - I was disappointed to open the box (which was in excellent condition) and find the table surface marred with paint chips and blemishes. Pictures are attached below. I know this surface will eventually get some wear and tear and this will be normal, but for brand new out of the box, I expected a bit more from Dewalt quality control. Overall, I would without hesitation recommend this saw to anyone interested. I just finished some cabinets for the garage and made all of the doors with tongue and groove joints on this saw.

This one didn't fit the bill...lol
If you need a job site saw or something portable and you might my to seriously look at this saw... For me mine came with a few defects (1) was the coating on the top I felt was not sprayed or dipped properly, because after one with a smooth 2 x 4 just testing the power out and checking aliment it had a scrape or gouge down the top and a few nib stops broke off and you could see the aluminum underneath. (2) my second problem was fixable ... when you lock down the fence you heard a loud pop. The lock Mechanism was binding with a part either due to ailment or like a burr something along that line. I must add if I didn't have a coating issues this would have been a solid job site saw and I would not have returned it. But again my needs have changed after having this saw for the short time i had it. In the end i could not accept the way the top was and how weak the coating was so i am chalking it up to a defect and it was returned for something totally different.

                  THIS IS AN AWESOME SAW!!!!!
I spent about 3 months researching saws from $300-$1000 price range including DIY saws to hybrid saws. I am a weekend woodworker and I would put my skill level between intermediate and advanced. I build anything from book cases/ tables to small decorative items. I work with Pine, Oak, Ash, Cocobola and any other wood type that fits the project I am working on but to make it simple I work all woods from hard to soft and 10 feet long to a few inches. I never know what the wife will have me building next. I have a small $100 table saw which was a great entry level saw but the complexities of the projects I am getting into far exceeded the capabilities and accuracy level of the smaller saw, so I went table saw shopping. I discovered that to get into the level of precision that I wanted and the safety features, the saws start at about $350 and go way....way up from there. I decided $500-$800 was my budget number. I had it narrowed down to the Bosch 4100 or Dewalt 7491 for portable saws and the Delta and Ridgid for the Hybrids with all 4 being near or just above the $600 range. I decided on the Dewalt and have never looked back or said "man I wish this saw had this or that". The deciding features were the on-board storage, the rack and pinion system and the very stable but portable stand. Right out of the box the saw was within 1/64th of an inch or less for the miter slots and fence to blade. The only thing I adjusted was the scale guide to measure to the right side of the blade (personal preference). I changed blades from the Dewalt 24 tooth construction blade to a Diablo 50 tooth combination blade (blades are the same thickness so no adjustments were necessary) and the cuts were smooth as silk. I have read that you will never extend the rip fence out to the 32-1/2" capacity yet I find myself out there all of the time with larger material. I guess if you have it you will use and I do. The precision in this saw with the rack and pinion and fence is remarkable. It has completely changed my workshop. I stand there sometimes and wonder why I didn't do this sooner. I now only cut things once and they end up EXACTLY how I expect both dimensional and square. What took me an hour to cut on the other saw now takes me 10-15 minutes because I don't have to measure everything 2-3 times and then still have to fix the piece because I could only get so much precision out of the other saw. That makes wood working FUN and my work looks more professional. I only make things for the house but I don't want junky/imprecise looking things even if I made them. I broke down a 4'x4' sheet of MDF the other day without any problem and the dust extraction worked great and that is a big deal with MDF. I have a good shop vac and with it running with the saw I would say it caught at least 95% of the dust. I am not a Dewalt junky or any brand junky for that matter. I use the brand and tool that works since no brand is great at every tool but this saw is leagues ahead in my opinion. With the built in and add on safety features, this saw doesn't scare the daylights out of me however I do still respect it. Yes I have had a table saw launch a piece of wood (landscape timber) and hit me square in the chest and I haven't forgot it. With the riving knife installed I am not as worried about that or in constant reflex mode when I am making cuts. This saw feels safer. If you have limited garage/shop space like me but want high precision and a VERY STABLE saw, one that keeps things fun and allows to handle large pieces then this is the one! I have had the saw for about 2 months and use it every weekend or more and it constantly exceeds my expectations. I would buy another one in a heart beat. The miter gauge is cheap plastic but does work. I will be upgrading to the Incra 1000HD miter gauge to get the full potential from this saw. Otherwise I don't know of any other add on's or upgrades that this saw needs besides the miter gauge and blade and that is preference also. The ones with the saw may fit you well, they just didn't fit my needs. Jigs and such you would make yourself anyways to cater to your own needs and specialties. Set up was simple too. Total setup time was about an hour or two but I took my time and didn't see it as a race. Great purchase and no regrets!

                  Excellent portable table saw
They put an extreme amount of thought into this saw! For its size and weight it is extremely stable even with large pieces of lumber weighing over 75 lbs. The fence is accurate right out of the box. Every accessory has it's own storage. Full depth cuts are easy with the 15 amp motor.

The quality and performance one would expect from DEWALT
I ordered this product online through Home Depot's customer service department. I received a phone call when the shipment arrived at my nearest store location and picked it up myself. Upon opening the package I was delighted how easy this saw to assemble. While putting it together, which only required a few simple tasks like fastening on the legs and handles, I observed how much quality and durability was engineered into the design of this product. I've used it for various numerous tasks including cutting 4 ft. by 8 ft. sheets of plywood, ripping 2 X 4's down, and simple crosscut tasks. I'm amazed at how accurate the fence measurements are on the provided built in scale after calibrating it according to the supplied directions. This is a pricier table saw but you get what you pay for IMHO. The motor handles larger cuts extremely well. I think DEWALT is spot on with this piece of equipment!

                  Very accurate and versatile saw.
I am very satisfied with this saw. I initially had dreams of getting a larger cabinet saw for my shop space - however after weighing the pros and cons of this saw I decided it would be a better purchase at this time. This saw was easy to set up and allowed me to get right onto the projects that had been waiting for its arrival.
