I’m replacing these
I put these on studs, screwed drywall on, and immediately got a big pop over where the flange is. So I took off the other outlets and chiseled out a little slot for the flage to go into in the stud before drywalling. This worked! Then i grabbed the cable to install the outlet and the box immediately tore through the drywall (the side which isn’t connected to the stud). So glad i tried that before mudding, I’m taking all the drywall down and putting in different outlets. However, when i installed these in a concrete block wall (screwed into a furring strip and sealed with great stuff), they worked great.

These work well with New construction as well as old Plank board construction.

Good Electrical Box for 2 x 3 Lumber
My house was built in the mid 1970s, and some of the wall framing lumber in the basement is 2x3 (not 2x4). I wanted to find a modern electrical box that fits within the smaller 2x3 lumber, yet still has enough room for wires. This box fits and has plenty of room for 1 or 2 circuits. Just make sure you install at least 1/2" thick drywall as the final wall covering...so the box doesn't stand proud of the final wall. And make sure to install an insulated staple to secure your wires within 12" of the box, because this is a new work box...so it has knock-outs...not the integrated clamps.

This box was easy to install. It fit well on the stud and the holes did not split or tear during installation. The holes for the faceplate lined up well. The plastic was a good choice for the basement because we don't have to worry about it corroding.

Very expensive compared to the new work box with the two nails.

Quality item. Sturdy and well-designed. Worked perfectly for our needs; mounted in between two studs that are too close together to be able to uses a standard new work captive-nail box.
