At the time of purchase I was excited for this product because it had the igniter built in to the torch handle and I used it once the solder dripped down into and landed in the tip of the torch after the first use. I was a little disappointed because I had spent a considerable amount of money buying the kit. I haven't been able to use this torch since.

My 52 year old son, is totally psyched! He is very much into, Sous Vide cooking! Wish I could forward his photos, of how the torch finished off his sirloin tips. He is thrilled! Thank you for your great customer service!

It works very well great for hardening steel I used it for making a knife

I did research in brazing Aluminum in this is recommended. Braze a 14 gauge Aluminum checkered plate to make a box and divider in my tool box (used blue demon triple play Aluminum brazing rod) and turn pretty darn good.

“Assembled in the USA with Global [Including Cheap Chinese] Components...” I regret having to give the Bernzomatic TS8000 torch one star, because I really liked it before its very untimely failure. My TS8000 seemed well made (heavy, nearly-all-metal construction) and put out a truly impressive amount heat compared to other torches I’ve used. Unfortunately, the TS8000’s initially reliable ignition grew progressively worse and finally stopped working altogether. It lasted less than two weeks of occasional use and less than one 14.1-oz propane cylinder. The culprit was a failed piezoelectric igniter. The igniter’s only marking was “GUO LI,” which I presume is the component's Chinese manufacturer. It’s a shame such an inexpensive and easily replaced part isn’t available separately. I wouldn’t be nearly as disappointed if I could have just bought an exact-replacement igniter and quickly been back in business. Instead I have the hassle of returning the torch and procuring another one. Since I’m having trouble finding a comparable torch for a reasonable price from another manufacturer, I reluctantly went ahead and ordered another TS8000 and will hope my new one is made using a different igniter supplier de jour. ProTip: I did discover after reading a forum that others have had the same problem and were able to replace their igniter with a similar piezoelectric unit (model #SP14410, Home Depot Internet #301340195) used in Rheem gas water heaters. I haven’t tried replacing an igniter, but I understand it does require some fairly minor modifications to the igniter only that include trimming the wire and insulation and removing the plastic protrusion at the base of the wire. I did order one of these igniters along with my replacement TS8000 so I hopefully won’t have to return another TS8000 or go to the hassle and cost of shipping it back to Bernzomatic under warranty after Home Depot’s return period elapses. I also learned some people replaced their failed igniter with a piezoelectric unit from a disposable butane lighter. However, those igniters are smaller, and I would prefer a more exact replacement part.

I need to purchase a replacement tip. Where can I accomplish that?

Only had for a few days and so far extremely happy. I soux vide 2 tenderloin steaks yesterday for 2 hours at 132 degrees Celsius and then seared each steak all over which only took a minute or so. The end result was the most tender piece of meet we have ever had. Sure beats my old method of reverse sear. I believe this will be a very versatile tool for the whole house.

Broke within a couple weeks used it twice.

I've been using it for several months and I'm very pleased with it.

Worked well. Lowest flame a bit high for some work but low heat is not why I bought it. Ignites immediately when directions are followed. Flame control easily adjusted with minimal effort. "Locking" switch position is a good safety feature. "Heavy"but weight not noticeable during use). Used it 3 times since purchase.
