As others have said, this paint is thick and makes even coverage difficult on rough, stucco-like masonry surfaces. A lot of pressure was required with the 1/2" nap roller to get enough paint into the pores to seal them. The extra time and effort to get complete coverage with the first coat was worth it, because the second coat went on in 1/3 the time and with a lot less effort. The second coat was definitely necessary to adequately cover surface discoloration. Surface area coverage was about right per the specifications. Now I wait to see how it performs this winter to seal out moisture. Then I'll know how to finish the recommendation.

Beware that you will not get GREY, you will get WHITE as the photo represents. As other reviews have stated, now I have to mix black latex to get concrete grey. Classic Home Depot.

The paint/waterproofer looks great, dries fast and is easy to apply. I ordered silt, you sent me white, had tinted.

Beautiful colors and not difficult to apply. Dries out in can after opened so be careful.

I used gallons of this paint in this and another color to waterproof the unpainted exterior old porous brick walls of a house in a coastal flood zone. It goes on easily with a brush and the 2nd coat (recommended) goes on much easier/quicker. The paint is thick and creamy and cleans up easily with soap and water. I am happy with the prompt delivery to my home of an Internet order, the product and the application, and time will tell if it really does waterproof the exterior walls. It appears that it will as it filled pits and cracks well with good thick coverage. It dries quickly and is available in many colors.

Our house is six years old with the basement still unfinished. When we bought the house we noticed several large cracks spanning a good portion of the floor. Can't say to the long term but it seems like this will be a good fix, though ours needed two coats.

This waterproofer has worked very well for me. I am a contractor and I was working on a house that were are planning to set on market in a few days. The house walls are made out of concrete blocks and after every rain we would have water in the basement garage. So, I've used Concrete all-in-1-step cleaner from Berh and pressure washed the wall to remove all loose particles. After that I had to apply some concrete caulk/waterproofer from Home Depot to seal 1/8-1/4 inch pinholes. Two coats of Concrete and Basement Waterproofer was applied with a roller. It is interior wall below the grade (~8 ft below the grade). So, 3 days after that application we had almost two days of rain non-stop and my garage is dry! We are ready to set the house on market and I will start the advertisement this afternoon! Thank you Berh for a great product!

The product was ordered online and delivered to our house. It did need some stiring. I would rather buy it in the store and have it shaken

I have had nothing but GOOD luck using Behr products. Used the waterproofer on our basement walls and floor, with amazing results. The basement is so much brighter and fresher smelling. It has lasted 6 years and no leaks. I highly recommend Behr.

One waterproofing paint was so thick and sticky it was like painting with thick maple syrup. The second one didn't cover well and the smell was awful. I started to think we were going to have to hire a contractor if we were ever going to have a dry basement. After some serious frustration and quite a bit of money spent, we tried the Behr waterproofer. What a difference! The paint went on smoothly without any drag at all, even over some rough areas where the wall had been textured with sand. The coverage was great. It has been on the walls for a couple of months now and no water or moisture yet! Very pleased!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My daughter purchased her first home, and the garage walls showed some mold and effervescent. We cleaned the walls, read all the reviews on several companies. I had previously used another product to prevent water from entering my home. So I was surprised at the lack of odor. We picked almond cream. It took two coats, the color was great. The coverage was great. One tip I would say is to work the roller lightly, until the paint is applied, use more pressure when the roller is emptied, working the paint into the holes. Use a full roller to go over areas not completed covered. applied with a full roller. The garage is 14 feet high, I used an extension on the roller, and never climb a ladder. Covered wall great. It has only been up for day, but it looks wonderful. I would not hesitate to recommend this product. Second coat was done in half the time of the first coat.

This paint does a really nice job of covering and sealing basement cinder block walls. It rolls on easily and has very little odor. Dries to the touch within and hour and can be recoated in 4 hours. On two of my walls where seepage is not a problem I just applied one coat. The appearance is not quite as nice where I applied two coats but it is not an area that we live in so it doesn't really matter. In a few spots where the grout is very uneven I used a small foam brush to dab paint into the spots that the roller missed. Coverage was better than the 80 to 100 sq ft/gal that was claimed on the can. I got about 125 sq ft/gal on the first coat and better than that on the 2nd.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this product. I was hoping to clean up the basement and make it less damp but I was suprised to find that it made it dry. Although the prep time was very long and tedious, it was well worth it. My preping properly which included regrouting lots of the mortar between the bricks, it was well worth it to do it right. I now have a very usable dry basement that I don't fear to go into!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The application instructions were very good and I tried both a roller & a 4" brush to apply to my block basement walls. I found that I got better coverage filling the nooks and crannies of the porous block surface with the brush. The first coat took a little longer and required more effort than the 2nd coat. As the directions state, a 2nd coat was necessary for full coverage and good color. It also took much less effort and gave more coverage. I had some minor cracks that were filled in and visibly disappeared after the application. The odor was hardly noticeable and was completely gone the next day. I started in one corner and am working my way around the basement. The completed sections are brighter, easier to keep clean and are a major improvement in the appearance.

I have used this in several areas. It worked great in an underground basement, although it took 6 coats to finally stop the water penetration. I have also used it to paint my stucco home. The material went on quite easily and with 2 coats, it looks like new several years out. The biggest challenge is that it is really thick, think frosting and you get the idea, particularly on a cold morning. Don't try to stir it to mix in the pigment, you will be all day. Every day I was planning to paint, I took it to my local home depot to shake it. Never had a problem that way. It is really hard to roll on and I couldn't imagine spraying it, even though the directions say you can. I used a brush, which took a long time, but it seems very durable so it was effort well spent. I have also used this on wood and it works but it takes several coats, since wood is porous. But once I was done, it was really water proof and looked great. Finally, the custom color selection is pretty extensive, but don't expect every possibility. Deep colors are just not possible and the finish is totally matte, but very smooth to the touch.

After applying Behr masonry on the cement walls, the moisture problems have been eliminated and the white finish has weathered seasonal changes perfectly. I would highly recommend this product to any interior cement project.

I have a wet basement and I also own a home built in 1890...so, trying to find a product that really was a waterproofer finally ended with this product. I'm so very happy that I gave this a try :) I can't do paints, etc with a strong odor, this one has a very low odor and that I really appreciated! I have an unfinished basement so there were all kinds of obstacles to having this product work. I cleaned off the cinder blocks and this product went on easily. I chose this color only because it's the current color of the blocks and didn't want anything like tan or cream...so, color looks exactly like I had expected. It really looks nice, went on smoothly and so far, so good. I liked everything about this and think if you are looking for something in the way of a waterproofer...this is your product. Not much more that I can say about it other than I'd recommend it. :)

Behr Premium Basement Masonry and Waterproofer worked great for my basement. The guy at home depot recommended this for my basement job and so far no leaks. Works great. I will recommend this paint for all your basement waterproofing jobs.

I bought this paint for my living room walls because I have the basement floor where my living room is located and not only is it only 1 coat but moisture won't be a problem yay!!!!! This paint looks wonderful

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My husband and I purchased this to basement waterproofer to coat the walls in our home built in 1978. Unlike previous experiences in other homes using Drylock, this Behr had a very minimal smell making it much easier to do this project on our own. When purchasing this, the gentlemen at Home Depot noted that the price difference between this and Drylock was minimal, but that the Behr quality was much superior. He noted that Drylock hasn't updated their formula in the last 30 years and that Behr has much better technology. I couldn't agree more. We were really impressed with the ability to tint the color of the Behr paint and ended up going with a nice shade of light grey. The application of the paint was easy and the coverage was great. The can noted that you could apply it to slightly moist surfaces which was a relief because we did have a small area were the cinderblock was already moist. We applied two coats and wow, what an improvement over the bland cinderblock! I would definitely recommend to anyone that has a moist basement.
