DID NOT COVER EVENLY - SHOWED ALL OVERLAPPING AREAS....HAD A SORT OF SEMI GLOSS FINISH - BASICALLY RUINED MY BEING ABLE TO STAIN THE REST OF MY DECK WITH SEMI-TRANSARENT STAIN - WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SHOW WOOD GRAIN - WILL NEED TO USE OPAQUE STAIN - WILL NOT BUY BEHR SATAIN AGAIN.

Thanks for taking the time to review our DeckPlus Semi-Transparent Wood Stain. I'm sorry to hear about the peeling and mildew.
To fix this, I recommend removing the loose coating and using a mildew-killing cleaner to remove the mildew. Then, clean with our All-In-One Wood Cleaner to open the pores of the wood and promote adhesion before applying two new coats of stain. Please keep in mind that periodic cleaning may be needed for areas prone to mildew/mold.

Great product!

This stain isn’t even worthy of one star. You’re lucky if this stain last a year before flaking and coming off. If I did not have a big deck with lots of rails and boards I would change brands, but trying to match off the exact color isn’t easy. I have pressure washed and cleaned the porch before applying the stain and nothing makes this product hold any better. Many boards have been replaced on my deck and I cleaned the wood before applying the stain and less than a year later the deck needs restained again. For this price I would expect a better product.

To fix the issue, I'd recommend removing the stain by scraping, sanding, or power washing at a low level. Then clean the surface with the All-In-One Wood Cleaner and let it dry, then apply 2 coats of stain per the label directions. I definitely recommend the diluting per instructions. I put inly one coat on 2 years ago and just did a 2nd coat. It changes color shade after the sun bakes it but water beads up and has helped the crappy wood builder used to last longer.

DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I followed the directions and used this as recommended by Home Depot employee and used it on our brand new redwood deck. In less than a year it is faded and looks terrible!! I should have taken our contractors advice and used a different product. Now, I need to sand the entire deck and use another product. Our deck/patio area was supposed to be the end of our remodel... and since I trusted Behr's product I now have ANOTHER project.

Our Semi-Transparent Waterproofing Stain & Sealer should provide a 3-year lifespan for horizontal surfaces and 5 years for vertical. Since it doesn't sound like you have any loose coating, you will not need to sand the surface. To fix the fading, I recommend cleaning the deck with our All-In-One Wood Cleaner. Once dry, touch up the affected areas and apply a thin coat corner to corner if needed for uniformity. information is incorrect
They said it covers 300 sqt for 1 coat which is completely wrong for me 400 sqt I use 3 gallons so far. I am completely dissatisfied with this product.
