After one year the stain was peeling. I’m dissapointed in the product. You spend your money on high dollar product expecting quality. Life is short. Dont spend your time in redo mode.

My deck was in bad shape. When I pressure washed the soft deteriorated parts of the surface came out and left valleys and ridges. Deck Plus filled these and they hold rain water until it dries naturally. Two months in and I hope it lasts. First coat was thin, second was a lot heavier. It even rained on the deck before it was completely cured, we will see!

Went on great and looks fantastic

We enjoyed this color it was a more natural color and it had a better protection then just putting a sealer on the deck. It dried quickly and the application was easy to paint on. I will warn that you need to paint one section at a time. If you let it dry then paint only part of a section again you will see a color difference. To get an even look you will need to paint each section or board at a time to have an even semi transparent look. I painted 2 coats because I enjoyed the color and coverage of 2 coats. I would highly recommend this product. We also used the Behr Premium 1-gal. All-in-one Wood Cleaner this did wonders our deck that was weathered looked almost brand new. I highly recommend a cleaner then stain to have a lasting and professional result.

I purchased the Behr Deckplus waterproofing exterior wood stain to paint 4 Adirondack chairs on my front porch. I chose the wedgewood blue color which goes fabulously with my grey front deck and grey sided house. Very easy to apply, washes up with soap & water and dries in about 15 minutes or so. I’ve gotten quite a few compliments on my front porch. Now my house looks very “beachy”. Thank you Home Depot for a great product.

I have Adirondack furniture that was in dire need of a paint job. After researching for the best product for my project I decided on Behr Deckplus. I liked the fact that it was like a solid color paint and covered the furniture in one coat. I opted to use 2 coats since it had been quite a while since I had finished them originally. One gallon covered 4 chairs and 3 tables with plenty leftover.

Slate Color Stain I bought a used playset for my boys to use as spring was approaching and I wanted something in the backyard. The set had been sitting outside for a few years and did not appear to have been stained in a long time, if ever (I am guessing just the stain that was originally on it when they purchased the set.) To start I power washed the wood to get all the dirt and some of the old stain off. I let the wood dry for a couple days and then did a light sanding on all of it to prep for the stain. At this time I moved it into the garage to keep it dry and prepare for the stain. When I went to pick out a stain I wanted a dark color to cover everything (and match the roof of the playset as it is a dark gray plastic material.) I thought about going with a black but did not know how that would look on a playset. The wife and I both agreed on slate and then I had to decide between Semi-Transparent and solid. After reading about the two it seemed that solid would be more like a paint and I was worried that it would chip or fade more then a semi. Plus the pictures on the semi made it look pretty dark but with a wood grain. So I decided to go with the Semi-Transparent and ordered online. The order came in a couple days (faster then it showed it would be) and I went to pick it up. You could probably just go to the store and have them make it but I was not in a rush. When I got home I opened the can and it looked like a slate gray paint that was thinned. I applied the first coat and let the dry. At first I was not happy as it just looked like a tinted wood and not dark at all. I went back to the store and talked to an associate about the options. I could strip it all and go with a solid or just keep running with what I had. So I decided just to add a second coat and see how that worked. After doing that and letting it dry it actually turned out pretty good. Not as dark as I had hoped (that is the reason for the 4 stars) but it looks really good when I put the set together. It still keeps a nice wood look and I think it will be easier to maintain. The stain was easy to apply with a brush and the gallon allowed me to cover the material I had with two coats. But I used all of it! Overall I would use this again. My photos include a before picture (after power washing and staining), a one coat picture, a completed picture, a picture where I moved a piece after staining so you can see the original wood (this shows the original color of the set. Since the metal piece protected the wood in this area you see what this originally looked like when they first purchased it. The exposed area of the playset were not this pretty!), and finally a completed project picture. I will try to update this review after a years time to let you know how it is holding up!

Absolutely its a great Prouduct! I used Colonial yellow & black BEHR stainer for my fence and walla. Perfection

Does it's job and repels the water.

I used this stain on my log home that is nearly 30 years old. I used only a wire brush to get off most of previous stain and discoloration. The new stain, brown, covered beautifully and with just one coat. The thickness of the product is perfect and is so easy to apply. Doesn't drip like most stains though I decided to go ahead and paint my chink since it was getting very discolored. No nasty fumes. Last year I painted a different part of the house and the job held up with no cracking or peeling, despite hot sun in Summer and lots of wet snow in the Winter. Clean up was easy.

THIS IS A GREAT PRODUCT. I'VE PURCHASED THE SEMI-TRANSPARENT WATERPROOFING WOOD STAIN BEFORE AND EACH TIME HAVE BEEN VERY PLEASED WITH THE RESULTS. WE RECENTLY APPLIED IT TO THE WOODEN DECK RAILINGS AS SHOWN IN THE PHOTO...THE TERRA COTTA SEMI-TRANSPARENT ALLOWS THE WOOD GRAIN TO SHOW AND IT REALLY LOOKS SO NATURAL. THE PRODUCT ALSO HAS EXCELLENT COVERAGE - THE PHOTO IS AFTER JUST 1 COAT AND IT LOOKS SUPER. WILL DEFINITELY BUY AGAIN!

A great product. I have taken many painting and staining projects in the past year and Behr has not disappointed. Cannot say the same about Olympics. Anyways, I got a gallon of this delivered to my home and I applied to my fence. Liked the results very much, so I have ordered more. A word about prep work, which is part science and part art- many a people complain about stain failure or paint failure. They really need to either hire a professional who guarantees their work, or develop expertise themselves. Applying a coating to outdoor wood is a non-trivial project - it requires you to understand the properties of your wood - its expansion and contraction due to thermal and moisture conditions.

I bought this stain to paint a cabin I purchased as a vacation home. I was looking for the best value i could find and this stain is awesome. I am not a great painter and have been very pleased with the ease of using this product and ease of clean up. Needless to say I can make a real mess but this stuff is as good as any I have ever used.

Applied this to three small decks in 2012... two were contractor grade whitewood that had been stained over 5 years previously, one was a new PT deck I built 4 months prior. All were pressure washed, scrubbed, and pressure washed again. Two coats of Behr waterproofing stain on all surfaces. Pros: color is accurate, easy to apply and cleanup, coverage as expected (for ONE coat), looks great when finished. Cons: significant fading and moderate peeling at two years. Less fading on protected/shaded areas, but even covered, nontraffic, and vertical surfaces were peeling. At year three, I am forced to restain... everything has faded to a pale, dusty color, and bare wood is exposed in several places. At $30/gallon and two coats, I would have expected it to be far more durable. Refer to unretouched photo with this review... fresh stain vs 3yo stain.

I asked to have the stain color matched to the remainder I brought to the paint department at Home Depot on Highland Road. It wasn’t even close and they refused to grant me a refund or to match the color because the staff was unprofessional and had no clue as to what they were doing. Never will I or anyone I know buy from Home Depot
