A:  I installed this myself, not sure if NY needs anyone special to install. It is easy to cut and push into holes or gaps to keep out rodents.

Q:Can this be applied on a roof under a plumbing vent pie?
      by|Jun 5, 2021

      Answer This Question

A:  Yes, you can wrap Xcluder around the vent pipe, Xcluder is made with poly and stainless fibers so it will never rust or corrode. So that no rain water or snow melt drains through the material, you might also need to seal over the material with some sort of sealant if needed.

        Answer This Question

A:  Hi, and thanks for your interest in Xcluder. Your idea sounds like it will work. When you install the material you'll compress it a bit and press it into the gap. It's got some natural springiness to it so once in place it will expand a bit and be held firmly in place by friction. Come spring time you can simply pull it out.

A:  Hello- Yes-you can add it or remove it as you need- its flexible steel wool in a roll. Just rip off what you need ( use gloves) and add for winter and remove in spring. Hope this helps.

Q:Can this material be painted after installation? Years ago an exterminator used steel wool between some of my baseboards and floor where there are gaps from house settling. Some of it is unsightly especially around the doors. Some is now starting to rust and I’ve identified other places where something is needed. I wonder if painting the same color of white baseboards and door jams would look better.

A:  copper is difficult to coat, but certain solvent borne acrylics might do the job

A:  Hi and thanks for your interest in Xcluder. You could paint the material and it will likely be less noticeable. Another option, depending on the location, would be to pack the material into the opening so that it's a little below the surface and then put a bead of caulk over the material for a nice finished look.

A:  Although this product looks similar to steel wool it differs as it is made with stainless steel and polyester fibers and therefore won’t rust. For your steel wool I can’t see why you couldn’t paint it but not sure if that would look much better. Is there anyway you can trim off the excess with a utility knife?

A:  Hi! I'm assuming that you're talking about a steam radiator. If that's the case it is perfectly safe to use the fill fabric around it. If it's some other type of radiator or you still have questions please give our support line (847.947.0029) a call and one of our tech support people will be able to guide you.

                    Answer This Question

A:  Can't imagine a wood fence keeping rats out of anything.

                    by|Oct 23, 2020

A:  Yes you can as it is weatherproof but keeping it in place might be an issue. I would use 1/4" wire mesh and attach it with staples or screws. That would be more secure and cost effective.

A:  Hi and thank you for your interest in our Fill Fabric. We probably wouldn't recommend it for this application. Depending on the style of the fence and the size of the holes you may be able to successfully seal them up. However, our technical experts caution that rats are very good climbers and diggers and would just go up and over or dig under the fence if their usual holes were blocked. With some more information we could give you a more definitive answer and offer some other ideas that may help solve your problem. If you'd like to give our customer support line a call one of our technical experts would be happy to talk with you. The number is 847.947.0029. Thanks!

A:  Yes it could assuming the gap or space your trying to fill does not exceed this product's measurements. The basic roll is 1/2 inch thick by 4 inches wide. The standard roll is 60 inches long.
