Q:can this be used on wet lumber and masonry...like between a foot wall and sill?
    by|Mar 5, 2024
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  Hello bsorcs - The surface of the wood or masonry can be damp, but too much water on the surface can result in the foam not sticking properly to the surface.

Q:How do you apply this to a hole in my unfinished basement ceiling? Can I add a extra piece of tubing to extend the length, since the can upside down gets in the way & the gray tube is too short?
        by|Dec 13, 2023
        1 Answer
        Answer This Question

A:  Hello Tangelo - As long as the Great Stuff™ Insulating Foam Sealant is started out in the upside-down position, the product can be used in any position. Trying to spray upward is difficult at best and we are not sure that Great Stuff™ would be the best product. Please contact us at 833-338-7668 to discuss whether or not Great Stuff™ Insulating Foam Sealant is the right product.

Hello Sbutti - We are sorry to hear that our products did not work according to your expectations.
Great Stuff™ Pestblock Insulating Foam Sealant is a barrier to stop pests from having immediate access.
The following steps may further assist in creating that barrier:
          1. Fill the gap with Great Stuff™ Pestblock
          2. Apply a small screen or steel wool over the uncured Great Stuff™ Pestblock
          3. Once first layer is cured, apply another layer of Great Stuff™ Pestblock DOW

Filled large openings and still usable week later
Bought to fill openings where mice were getting into the house after a trapping company found the opening and wanted hundreds to seal it. Easily filled the hole and a few other spots a week later which I didn’t expect to work given the reviews and experience with similar products. Definitely recommend!

              Product turned orange!
Foam went on gray as indicated on can but where it was used on exterior of house (on gray stucco) it turned bright orange! Would not recommend if you need a gray foam product on the exterior of house.

Hello Thatoldguy - When any of the Great Stuff™ products are used outdoors, they need to painted to protect it from the UV. When exposed to UV, it will turn orange and then brown and after that it will start to crumble. DOW

                Warning: Picture on front wrong!
Great Stuff is GREAT STUFF! And I like that the 'Bug Version' has a sealing dispensing straw - so the can does not 'brick' itself quickly -- you can use the one can all day (and maybe even the second day). However, I do use acetone to keep the spout clean. ONE CAVEAT: The picture on the front is misleading. It makes it look like you can hold the can upright and dispense the foam. WRONG! This will cause *ALL* the gas to escape and leave you with a useless can. ALWAYS HOLD THE CAN UPSIDE-DOWN!

                  "Smart Dispenser" failed almost immediately
New can with a 2024 expiry date. Nice and warm, well shaken for more than 2 minutes. Installed Smart Dispenser to a snug fit. Upside down, start with slow press and foam comes out as expected for 3-4 seconds before I stopped to adjust. Smart Dispenser seems loose. I tighten it, and get a second run of a few seconds out of it. Smart Dispenser is loose again and foam is coming out around the base. Now nothing comes out. Returning tomorrow for a product that does not include a Smart Dispenser.

                    Not for mice!
Definitely not intended for larger pests as they can chew right through it. Bought because two workers recommended when they saw me looking at mice products. Very disappointed.

                      Just use newspapers instead
Couldn’t get it to come out of the can. Almost no pressure, and what little bit did ooze out was almost entirely around the base of the nozzle (and yes, it was throughly shaken before use). Also, you will literally need a magnifying glass to read the instructions which are printed in tiny white letters on a light green background. Save your money and use something else.

Hello Squirrelslaughing - We are sorry to hear that our products did not work according to your expectations. Best if Used By/Expiration date information can be found on the bottom of the can. As with all items sold through retailers, product should be returned to the place of purchase for exchange or refund.
Sound like either an expired can of product or defective. DOW

                        Keeps Pests Out!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am loving Great Stuff Smart Dispenser Pestblock.. 1 12ounce can equals 19 tubes of caulk..It can be used indoors or outdoors and is sandable and paintable..It keeps insects out and contains no pesticides but has a bittering agent..The dispenser is very precise and no worries about drips..Great Stuff Smart Dispenser Pestblock Gray dries in 10 to 15 minutes and is ready to trim in an hour..It also has all direction dispensing which made applying it so easy and fast.. Great Stuff Smart Dispenser Pestblock works and I so recommend this.

                          Easy to use
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This pest block work very well. I used it to keep bugs out of my shed and there has been a huge improvement. All you need to do is shake the bottle and aim in the designated gaps. The can shoots out a foam and slowly starts to expand till it hardens up and drys. Overall I would this product works very well.

                            Pest block works!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have had an ant problem in my den every year this time of year. I decided to use this pest block on the outside perimeter base to see if it would prevent them from entering since I was not sure how they were getting in. Since adding this barrier, I haven’t seen the ants. Please be sure to wear gloves when applying. It is very sticky! Easy to apply, but it does foam you a bit after application. But does exactly what it says.
