Q:What season would this product be most effective, because it's October and winter is coming?

Answer This Question

A:  I apply it every April and October

by|Nov 23, 2019

A:  Put it on when you have a couple of days of no rain so it has time to work. Effective for up to six months in my case, then you will need to re-apply. I do not think a particular season is relevant.

    by|Oct 10, 2018

A:  Wet & Forget can be applied anytime the temperature is above 32 degrees. October is a great time to apply as Wet & Forget will work throughout the winter with the snow.

      by|Oct 10, 2018

A:  Rain is the most effective way to wash it off a surface after, but that part's not needed. Don't use it in any season where the product would freeze on a surface. Other than that you should be ok.

Q:Can it be used on Paver walls and walk ways with out killing the grass.

            Answer This Question

A:  Yes, Wet & Forget can be used on virtually any exterior surface such as paver walls and walkways without killing nearby grass. Wet & Forget will not kill grass though if a significant amount is sprayed directly on a lawn, you'll want to rinse the grass with water to avoid temporary browning.

A:  I used it on my walkway with no damage to plants or grass. However, I did use caution not to over spray. Results were "good" but it did take time.

              by|May 6, 2023

                A:  Did not harm grass.

A:  For some reason my dog likes to lick the sidewalk. Why I don’t know but I am guessing maybe salt. For this reason I don’t use it around sidewalks. Last year my dog was sick for no reason I could pin down. I am not saying this was the cause but as an extra measure of caution I keep her away from any area that this solution comes in contact with. As far as your question about the grass I did not see any damage to any plant life so I would not recommend against using it but I would spray it in a smaller spray pattern as to control the overspray as you would any pesticide or herbicide. Hope this helps and by the way I used it on my roof last year and one application seems to still be working because the treated area is still clear and an untreated area I couldn’t reach is still growing.

A:  If it"s a mildew/moss based stain, I am confident over a reasonable period of time, the stain will be removed. However, if not mildew, and more likely chemical based, I would use muriactic acid which is formulated to clean brick.

                    by|May 5, 2023

A:  Wet & Forget will remove green and black stains growing on brick surfaces, it will not remove paint stains or efflorescence.

                      by|May 5, 2023

A:  using this product the stain will work over time maybe use 2nd coat. I use Muriatic acid on stone and brick but be careful because it is stronger.

A:  I'm afraid I don't know the answer to your question. I used it on my driveway and it worked very nicely. As I mentioned in an early posting, the moss dies very quickly but, unless you make the effort the scrape off the dead moss, it will take several months for the rain and snow to eventually wash it off. Are you considering using it near a pool? I would contact the manufacturer to find out the product's safety profile regarding usage near/around water.

A:  I have used this on roofing and green treated deck wood and both are close to plants and wild animals. It works well for my uses. I think it could be brushed scrubbed on a wooden dock to treat mold.

A:  Wet & Forget should be applied at least 100ft away from lakes, ponds, rivers, and streams.

I don't believe the indoor was meant for carpet, and it's extremely difficult to remove mold/mildew from carpet in any case - usually best to dispose of it. You might also want to read the reviews on the indoor version, as they don't seem to be as positive as for the outdoor version. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Wet-Forget-64-oz-Indoor-Mold-and-Mildew-Disinfectant-Cleaner-802064/205215922

A:  Well, since you mix it in a 1:5 ratio with water (1 chemical/5 water) I think is is very diluted. However, although I have not experienced a problem spraying on brick sidewalk, why take a chance? This solution soaks in rather easily and quickly for me and surface is not very wet for long. I just think it wise to "stay off" until soaked in. (I backed up as I sprayed with sprayer, and wore boots.)

A:  Haven't used it yet, waiting for spring. However I would assume that coverage depends upon application: the lighter the application, the greater the coverage; the heavier the application, the less the coverage. So, I don't think there is any definitive number that can be given for the coverage; its going to depend upon the extent of the algae problem one has.

Product worked well and moss has not returned in 6 mo or so Note that moss does not disappear over night- it took several weeks.

I applied it twice and then blew off the dead lichen with a water stream. Then applied Copper spray to remove the remaining problem. If used on a roof for black fungus than whatever area can be wet with a pump sprayer at double the dilution rate would work .My guess would be as much as 500 sq ft. The cleaned roof stays clean for at least a year. This is the experience of my neighbor. My roof I applied chlorine and laundry soap to kill 95% of the black and then installed zinc strips at the peak to keep black from returning. Roof looks like new. I also am applying Metacrylic water proofing after diluting it by 40% to stop further deteriotation of the shingles and in my case stop leaks.May require 2-3 applications. Product worked very well and dries clear. I live in Florida with very heavy summer rains.

And remember you use a garden sprayer to dispense this. I use this on my patio and brick sidewalks outside. Have used on wooden places around upper parts of house. It works and yes it goes a long way. So just figure how much area you can spray with a fine spray with a gallon in your sprayer. It goes a long way. Takes a little while to "kill" mildew and moss on my flat surfaces but "good stuff." I do have to use it every season as living in South we have high humidity and also lots of rain/moisture. Go for it. The 0.5 gallon size (makes three gallons) should adequately cover the average home I would think. Good luck.

For example, you'll have much greater coverage on vinyl siding compared to cement. You can find coverage on Wet & Forget at the bottom of the front label.
