Answer This Question

A:  Hi, thank you for your interest! The standard model includes an ash catcher. The premium model includes the Tuck-N-Carry lid lock, which doubles as a lid holder to avoid placing the lid on the ground, and a carry handle, which makes it easy to pack up your grill wherever the day takes you. If you have any questions or want to know more, we're always here to help!

A:  Hi! We do have the premium version that you need to dump the ashes out of. It is meant to be a portable grill that can be transported. We don't want hot ash spilling out of the bottom of the grill therefore the bowl is fully enclosed. Hopefully this helps. Thank you!

            Q:Where is manual lighting port

            Answer This Question

A:  There isn’t any. Get a vertical charcoal holder , put paper in one end charcoal in the other. Light the paper when the charcoal is lit, about 5 min, turn it over and dump vials in bottom of grill.

            by|May 31, 2020

A:  It's a charcoal grill, you would light it from the top. Or add pre-lit briquettes from a chimney starter.

              by|Aug 23, 2020

A:  There is no manual lighting port - coals are lit with the top cover removed - better yet, use Weber Rapid Fire Chimney Charcoal Starter. Easy Day.

                by|May 31, 2020

A:  Hi Tom! This grill does not feature a manual lighting port. To easily ignite the charcoal, we suggest using a Rapidfire chimney, along with Weber Rapidfire Fire starters. Thanks!

Q:Is this large enough for indirect grilling for steak and ribs? Is there room to put a package of wood chips with the charcoal?

                    Answer This Question

A:  This grill not large enough for s full rack of ribs. A steak or half rack of ribs will cook easily. Not sure about a pack of wood. I have never used them.

                    by|Oct 8, 2019

A:  I doubt it. You MIGHT get room for a steak if you piled all the coals on one side, but it would be a stretch. Probably not enough room for more than one short rack of ribs. I would look at the Jumbo Joe 18" grill. The vents are on the bottom instead of the sides so easier to control the temp, and more grilling space. I believe it's the same size kettle as the Original Kettle Charcoal Grill 18", but with a locking lid and stubby legs. We use our standard height 18" "Original Grill" for indirect grilling a Tri Tip often. I would guess the 18" cooking grate Weber sells with the hinged "doors" to add briquettes off to the sides would also fit, great for doing ribs "low and slow" :-). https://www.homedepot.com/p/Weber-Jumbo-Joe-Portable-Charcoal-Grill-in-Black-1211001/203597021

A:  Hello Valerie, this model has a 13.68" diameter cooking grate, which is sufficient for steaks, which call for direct heat, but indirect cooking for ribs would require a great degree of finesse. Charcoal can be added directly to the coals for smoking. Thanks.

A:  Probably too small for indirect grilling of large steaks. Could add wood chips if desired.

A:  Sorry I bought this item as a gift and don't have it in my possession. My best guess when I put it together would be not more than 43" in circumference because it could sit on a small table easily.
