A: Hello, it may be necessary to add about 10 more briquettes to each basket about an hour into the cooking process. Thanks!
A: Works great for ribs and even a shoulder when you need indirect heat
A: A full chimney of coals will cook a number of things. I have the grill grate with the sides that open so I add fuel as I need it. I love natural oak B&B. You can little bits as you need without chemical starters so you can cook on through.
A: Yes, it more then met my expectations. Quality product
A: It’ll burn 90 mins if you slightly open the air vents.
A: I start w/ 25 briquettes on each side. This is good for at least 1 hour depending on temp. I would think you can probably do your turkey without reloading if it's not too big. I have a 22" kettle
A: The cook time will depend on the size of the turkey, the ambient temperature, etc. so the best thing you can do is get yourself a Bluetooth connected thermometer. you can pair it with your phone and easily monitor the cook temperature of the bird. When it drops simply add more fuel. I have one and it makes grilling, barbecuing, and smoking so much more enjoyable!
A: Depending on the size of the bird, you should load the holders 3/4 full to begin and add coals accordingly to keep the heat constant, around 350 degrees. Hope this helps.
A: I find that keeping the grill temperature between 350-400 degrees it can take a couple hours depending on the size of the turkey. Slower cooking helps keep the bird juicier. It works for me. I start with 50 coals, (Kingsford), 25 per side and adding 8 coals per side every hour. Turkeys come out great. I use a digital thermometer to check its internal temperature.
A: This is a good choice, these hold enough charcoal to burn at a high heat for up to 4 hours, just make sure the vent in the lid and the bottom of the grill are open. I 'm sure you know that the level of heat is controlled by how open the vent are. We do turkeys several times a year using this method and it works really well.
A: I would think so as long as there is space in the cooker for them.
A: Yes, sometimes we have used them with charcoal inside the fire box. This has been used to startup the firewood for the smoker. The firebox gets pretty hot and these trays take a beating. At other times, we'll just pre-light some mesquite chunks for the firebox, without the trays. Hope this helps.
A: Depends on the dimensions of the fire box, but there is no reason they couldn't be, assuming they'll fit.
A: Hello Candyman61, while we have no information pertaining to the compatibility of our products with a 3rd party product, provided these will fit in the unit they should work perfectly fine. Thanks!
A: Yes they can, they work very well in a smoker fire box.
A: Sorry. I have never tried that. I got rid of my gas grill and bought a 22" Weber charcoal grill because I missed the charcoal flavor.
A: Yes, you can use this on your gas bbq.
A: I don't know about that plan, Chris. These are made for the round bowl-shaped Weber grills. I have one that has a gas starter, but the two problems that I would anticipate are that the gas jets for starting these are shaped far differently than those for cooking, and that the charcoal leaves ash, which may not be easy to clean out of your gas grill, depending on the design. I agree with you about charcoal favor, and went from gas back to charcoal several years ago. You will likely be better off buying a grill designed for charcoal, though.
A: I wouldn't as the heat could melt the cheap aluminum used in gas grills. While you may use it short term why not buy a cheap charcoal grill and thus have the benefits of both.
A: Hi, I have been using these charcoal holders for indirect slow cooking and works pretty well. it works well with all kinds of bbq on my Weber charcoal grill. I don't see you why you can't use on your gas bbq to get the charcoal flavor. lowest possible gas outflow will do for your bbq cooking. good luck!
A: It is meant to be used with Weber charcoal grills 22in, I wouldn’t advise it to be used with any gas grills.
A: I would not recommend it myself. Maybe check with the manufacturer of your gas grill?
A: If there is enough room above the burners and below the grill. In other words, replace lava stones with the baskets, and use the burners to ignite the charcoal. Shut off the burners, and you would be fine.
A: If you like the charcoal taste get a charcoal grill and use the gas grill for storage of grilling tools, or maybe a warmer. If you burn charcoal on top of gas burners it will be a mess to get the ashes out from around the burners. And it will ruin the gas grill eventually.
A: Hello Chris, these charcoal fuel holders are meant to hold charcoal briquettes in one of our charcoal kettles. We do not recommend using them in a gas grill. Using charcoal in a Weber gas grill could cause irreparable damage to the unit, potential safety issues, and it would void the warranty on the unit. Thanks.
A: Yes it can fit other grills
A: Yes, this Charcoal Fuel Holders can be used in any grill as long as you have at least a 4” clearance between the charcoal grate and the grill grate.
A: Though designed for the Weber 22”kettle grill, I am sure they could be used on others similar to this or even a square/rectangular grill. The point is indirect heat for smoking. You could also look at just use the “snake” method. Look it up. I like these and they hold up well for many years.
A: They are shaped for use with a round grill, but if the grill is deep enough I don't see why it wouldn't work in another brand. It's really just a metal basket. It doesn't lock into the grill in any way.
A: Yes
A: Yes, but I would only use it with charcoal grills.
A: Hello Nena, we do not have any information pertaining to the compatibility of our products with a 3rd party products. Thanks.
A: Yes of course. As long as you have at least a 4” clearance between the charcoal grate and the grill grate. It works best with the Weber grill grate the gas the side folding flaps because you can move the holders around while they’re hot with long tongs also add more charcoal without removing the entire grill grate. So you can actually control where you want the heat most while you’re cooking. It’s great.
A: Yes it can
A: Sure as long as it will fit in your grill. These are half-moon shaped fuel holders are designed to allow indirect cooking by placing each holder against the sides of the round Weber Kettle grill, allowing the items to be grilled to be placed in the center area of the grill and off direct heat. The holders can also be placed together for direct heat cooking.
A: Hello Sandy, Thanks for your question! Yes, these Char-Baskets will fit the 18" Jumbo Joe. Thanks!
A: Yes they will.
A: They may. I have the Weber Performer which is much larger. I love using these for indirect heat. The charcoal burns slower. I highly recommend this product
A: Go to weber.com and look at the Jumbo Joe grill and you will see a pic of the charcoal holders being used so yes, they do fit!
A: No, their length may be too long to fit deep enough in your BBQ.
A: They are designed for the 26 but just sit on the bottom grill, so yes. You can use them to keep the heat off to the sides or concentrate the heat in the center. I think they are a good accessory.
A: Yes, it may fit a little high but great for indirect cooking. That is how I use it for slow cooking/smoking.
A: Fits: 18 INCH WEBER® CHARCOAL GRILLS 22 INCH WEBER® CHARCOAL GRILLS 26 INCH WEBER® CHARCOAL GRILLS

A: Yes, they are flexible. Funny to get this question on the first night using them.
A: Hi Alex! These Char-Baskets will fit our 22 in kettles. Thanks!
A: Yes they will.
A: Fits: 18 inch Weber® charcoal grills, 22 inch Weber® charcoal grills, and 26 inch Weber® charcoal grills
A: yes
A: These will work
A: Hello, Thanks for your question! These charcoal fuel holders will actually fit 18.5" models. We'll make sure to get the information updated. Thanks!
A: I do not think so.
A: Approximately 20 per side
A: I fill them both when I grill. Never counted how many it holds
A: not as much as you think. Fill them up and start. I suggest keep the temp at 350-400 for chicken. You will need to add wood or charcoal before the chicken is done.
A: Hello, Thanks for your question! It depends entirely on what cut of chicken you are grilling. Typically, you will start the grill with about half of a chimney starter of approximately 50 briquettes, with 25 on each side and an empty space in the middle. Please check out this link for some chicken related grilling information: http://help.weber.com/search/?q=grilling+chicken&m=grill_skills&start=0&num=20&page=1. Thanks!
A: 50
A: Yes you get two when you put in 1 order. They come in pairs.
A: Yes, there are 2 holders in an order.
A: Yes, they come as a set.
A: Hi, Thanks for your question! Yes, this includes two Charcoal Fuel Holders. Thanks!
A: Yes, the product is sold in pairs.
A: They are left and right (the same) and should be the same size.
A: The ones I received were the same size.
A: Bigger in what way ? Taller ? Foot print ? By how much ? Seems to me, if it holds charcoal for indirect heat method of cooking, what is the problem ?
A: Thank you for your question! The Weber charcoal fuel holders will be identical to each other. Thanks!
A: Yes they are both the same size.
How can we help?
