A:  No, this item is not a egress skylight in Texas.

A:  This model does not fully open. I do not believe it is usable as an egress skylight anywhere in the USA. You will need the top hinged model MK06 or MK08 or similar to get the minimum opening area required by codes. You should also check with your local building inspectors as local codes vary.

A:  This is not an egress skylight. Egress skylights will be the top hinged: GPU MK06, GPU MK08, GPU PK10, GPU SK06 and the GPU UK08 model. A:  I'm afraid that Velux does not manufacture a conversion kit that would transition a manually operable skylight to a powered model. If you install a manually operable skylight and then change your mind, it would involve replacing the complete skylight. A:  Hello, Tom. VELUX deck mount skylights, such as the VS, VSS, or VSE model, are designed to work on sloped roofs with a pitch between 14 and 85 degrees because they sit directly on the roof deck. Our curb mount skylights, however, will work on a flat roof or a roof with a pitch up to 60 degrees because they sit on top of a site-built curb. If you are looking for a venting skylight that will work on a flat roof, you should check out our models that begin with VCM, VCS, or VCE. The VCS model is a solar powered venting Fresh Air Skylight that is eligible for up to a 30% federal tax credit on both product and installation, and it's controlled by a programmable, touch screen control pad that is included with the VCS skylight. No electrician is required to install the VCS skylight, unlike the VCE skylight which is powered by electricity. The standard VCM skylight is operated manually using either a control rod or crank handle, depending on whether the skylight is out of reach or within reach.
