A:  Thank you for your question, you can install it either way but I would start at the left corner of the long side of the room.

        by|May 3, 2023

A:  It depends on the shape and size of your room and what looks good for your taste.

A:  It's a personal preference. Which would you prefer in terms of look?

Q:Moisture barrier & installing over concrete in basement

            Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your question .. the 6 mill poly does not come with the flooring. That is an item that would have to be purchased seperately.

            by|May 3, 2023

A:  We installed ours directly over concrete in our basement laundry room and have been very pleased. We understood the 6 mil to be part of the strips. Has anyone else figured out differently?

              by|May 4, 2023

A:  We put ours down in the laundry basement directly over the concrete. It's been down approximately six months and looks great.

Q:do I remove wall molding before installing planks
              by|Dec 10, 2013

              Answer This Question

A:  Yes, because you want to keep the manufacturer's recommended clearance between the flloring and the walls. When the molding is re-installed, it should hide the gap between the flooring and the walls. I've seen an installation where the floor molding was not removed, and the ~1/4 clearance to the molding was covered by 1/2 inch quarter round pre-painted molding next to the original molding, which I thought looked unprofesstional. Also, bookcases and similar furniture will not fit close against the wall.

              by|May 3, 2023

A:  It will be much easier to remove the molding in order to install the flooring with the gap around the perimeter of the room. This way, when the molding is replaced, it will cover that gap around the room for a much cleaner look and you will have provided the gap for expansion and contraction of the flooring.

              by|May 3, 2023

A:  I did remove the molding before installing. It is not very thick, if you could push it under the molding it might work.

A:  Yes, and if you are careful, and if it matches close enough, you can put the molding back down after you finish. That's what we did.

              by|May 4, 2023

A:  Thank you for your question...honestly, its your choice. If you chose to remove the molding when reinstalling it make sure it does not pinch or restrict the floor.

A:  Try putting 1/8 in thick 2" x 2" aluminum pads under each lag, Do not cut the flooring

                by|May 3, 2023

A:  My suggestion would be to cut around the radiator, The radiator could restrict the floor and cause it to lift.

Q:is there variation in the color of the planks to give it a more natural look?

                  Answer This Question

A:  Yes. If you are expecting it to look exactly like the wood version of this product, then you might be disappointed, but it looks good. It is textured and has nice color variation. There are a few different versions of the planks and if you mix them up they look more natural. I have both the engineered wood and the vinyl versions in my home and love them both.

A:  Yes, there is variation and texture.

                  by|May 4, 2023

A:  I would say it has a variation in pattern to give a natural look. I would think a variance in color pattern would not look natural at all. In fact they tell you to order this product at one time so that there is no color variation possibility due to the product run batch. The color variation would be a nightmare for me.

Q:I installed these plank tiles on my basement concrete floor. But, some of the seams start to lift. Is there anything I can use to fix the problem?

                  Answer This Question

A:  Did you use a moisture barrier? It may be moisture causing seams to separate. If so you can add one and glue the tile seams back together. I suggest Redwall which I've used in a bathroom. It paints on so you wouldn't have to take the whole thing out, just peel it back in sections. Or did you mean they are buckling? When installing this product you are to leave a small gap around the edge of the installation area. The gap may be hidden under baseboard but it must be present to allow for the normal expansion and contraction of the product. If that's the problem the fix is easy. Remove the baseboard and using a board or other straight edge cut a sliver along the edge then replace the baseboard. See the installation guide that came with the product to see how much you need to cut. If you are like me and lost it you can find it online linked in the item description or at the manufacturers website.

A:  Did you acclimate the boxed flooring first (put it in a warm room overnight or longer)? We put ours down on basement concrete and have had no trouble. I'm not sure about suggesting glue as we have had ours down for only a couple months. Good luck!

A:  yes should go over anything flat

                  by|May 2, 2023

A:  It should work fine as long as the tiles are smooth with no broken pieces. I installed mine over plywood that had chunks of wood taken out in spots. I just filled in with wood filler and sanded smooth.

A:  i don't know - i suppose it depends upon how tightly they are adhering to floor - i put over ceramic tile but, of course, that doesn't move - check you-tube - there are dozens of videos and responses on the experiences with this flooring - and all are very positive -i can't say enough good about it - good luck

A:  It should work fine, assuming the vinyl tiles are secure to the current subflooring. I have installed it over commercial floor tiles attached to cement with no issues whatsoever.

                  by|May 2, 2023

A:  As long as the surface you are putting it on is smooth it should work. Use leveling compound if you need to. What you are doing with this product is creating one solid piece that will float (which means it's not glued to the floor. The pieces glue to each other. I've installed them on subfloor and plan to use them over vinyl tile in other rooms. They are really easy to work with and look great.

A:  Yes. We put ours down over old laminate and we also installed it over concrete and over flat vinyl flooring in the bathroom. Those three did great and I think it would work in your situation, as well.

                  A:  yes.
