A:  Depending on what you mean by average. I used an orange three-pronged extension cord but is a heavier duty cord.

For an Extension Cord length of 50 feet, use a Minimum Wire Gage (A.W.G.) of 16. For an Extension Cord length of 100 feet, use a Minimum Wire Gage of 14. For an Extension Cord length of 150 feet, use a Minimum Wire Gage of 12.

A:  They can be sharpened but it is difficult to judge the level of difficulty. Each tooth on the blade will need to be sharpened by hand while the blade is fully assembled. Do not take it apart.

A:  No. just the safety button. As long as you keep the hand grip squeezed it stays on. Loose your grip at all and then immediatly shuts off

A:  No, it does not. After about 30 minutes of use my hand is pretty tired.

A:  No there is a safety switch which you must hold in when cutting, good idea.

A:  it takes effort to hold the trigger down without releasing and shutting down

A:  The trimmer has a lock switch. To start the trimmer, slide the lock switch backwards, towards you, then squeeze the trigger switch to turn on the hedge trimmer. The trimmer will stay on as long as the trigger switch is squeezed. The lock-off switch may be released once hedge trimmer is running. A:  No you have to keep your finger on the trigger as is the case with all newer trimmers. This an important safety feature.

A:  no it doesn't and you don't want it to.. locked on will increase temp of the blades and reduce temper and sharpness of the blades

A:  no it is not... wd 40 is a penetrating oil and can attract moisture .. I used some rotella 15-40 to douse it with .. before use.. worked good

A:  any oil works used motor oil would be just fine

A:  No it's not! Machine oil is like lightweight oil...like sewing machine oil. Go to Lowe's or Home Depot and ask one of the nice folks in there to help you out. The nice people in my store know me by name, lol! They love to help people who want to LEARN! WD-40 is NOT an oil! It will work great for fixing a squeaky door hinge, or getting label glue off of something that's not plastic, like glass. But that's about it. :-)

A:  No it is not. I use the 3 in 1 household oil to lubricate this trimmer. It is also available at Home Depot and can be used for other things around your house.

A:  The Toro Hedger Mode l# 51490 is double-sided, and yes it cut better than the B&D I replaced it for.

A:  It is double sided. As to the other question? I have never used the Black & Decker, however, I don't see how it could be better than the Toro. It is so powerful and smooth.

A:  My Toro cuts on both sides. I reviewed many models, including B & D, though I don't remember which models. I decided on this model, and I'm not giving it back, lol!

A:  hands down buy the toro.. I went thru 2 B&D 16 AND 18 INCH AND KILLED THEM BOTH on heavier stuff.. this one is the best hedge trimmer ive used ..

A:  I'm not really sure...check the website. I like for stuff to be made here. But after the way thing performs...at this point I don't really care. :-). It just cuts my hedges like butter...
