Q:On this clock, do the number of chimes correspond to the hours, example 11 chimes at 11 o'clock? Is that the definition of Westminster?

A: No you can't. You might want to put in an area away from your bedroom. The chimes are not very loud.

A: The 4 aa batteries - are used 2 for keeping actual time and 2 for doing the chimes. if you don't place the 2 batteries in the chime slot - then it won't chime. not having the 2 batteries in the chime section does not affect the time keeping of the clock at all.

A: Yes, only insert 2 batteries for the clock and pendulum and leave the battery compartment above the sound box empty.

Q:What kind of batteries are required? Is this a dual or single chime? What sound(s), please (Westminister, Whittington, something else?) Does it have an automatic silence switch (11 pm to 6 am)

A: it has the look of an antique regulator clock with a swinging pendulum. it takes 4 aa batteries. the chimes are Westminister. it is automatically programmed to not chime from 10 pm until after 5 am.

A: 2 AA batteries for the clock and pendulum and 2 more if you want the chimes. I did not try the chimes because I did not want them but the instructions say that it is programmed with a Sleep Feature so that it will not chime 10:00 pm and 5:00 am. The instructions also show how to set the chimes to start at different times- I did not try.

A: Double A batteries. I don't know what you mean by dual or single chime. It rings on the hour....there is a few chimes prior to actually ringing out the hour. It is a Regulator clock, I believe it is Westminister. Yes, it has the automatic switch to silence during the bedtime hours.
