Q:Can you cut this product for a window and is there a trim kit available.
by|Sep 16, 2015

Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your inquiry regarding the RM-58-010 tub wall kit. Due to the overlapping design of the panels and the 35" width of the back panel, we do not recommend cutting a window into the back panel. Another option would be Swan's HA-58 tub wall kit. This is made from the same material and is priced the same but has a wider back panel that is 56" wide allowing you enough width for a window. The panels can easily be cut using a saber saw with bi-metal blade (14 teeth per inch). Although not available for ordering online, this can be special ordered through your nearest Home Depot store under Part No. HA58000.010. Model #WK10000.010 is the window trim kit designed to trim the window cutout.

Q:I am installing the tub in a dormer alcove, and the back wall is slanted downward. Which is the best product for me to trim to shape on back wall
    by|Sep 9, 2015

    Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for considering the RM-58 tub wall kit for your home remodeling project. From your description, it sounds like you need to cut the height of the back panel down to fit underneath the ceiling of the dormer. If this correct, you can trim off the height of the back panel using a Saber Saw with bi-metal blade (14 teeth per inch). This will , however, leave an unfinished, rough edge at the top of the wall panel. It would then be necessary to caulk where the wall panel meets the ceiling to cover the unfinished edge. We hope this information helps with your project.

      Q:Backer board

      Answer This Question

A:  Yes, the RM-58 can be glued to a wood surface. The surface must be dry, smooth, and free of any dust, soap scum, or any other contaminants. To ensure proper adhesion of the Swan product, the wall surface must be sealed with a water or oil-based primer/sealer. After the primer/sealer is completely dry, then the Swan product can be installed.

Q:What is included in the box?

              Answer This Question

A:  The RM-58 includes color-coordinated silicone in the carton to seal the wall seams but does not include adhesive tape or installation adhesive. We recently removed the adhesive materials from our products as varying shipping temperatures made it hard to maintain the integrity of the adhesives. Thank you for considering a Swan product for your home!

Q:Can it fit to a small wall?
                by|Aug 11, 2015
                1 Answer
                Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for consider a Swan product for your home. Although the RM-58 can be trimmed to fit your dimensions, it is probably not an ideal solution. The back portion of the side corner panels that are overlapped by the back panel could be trimmed. However, trimming down the front edge of the side panels to achieve your 46-1/2" will leave a raw, unfinished edge which would be visible. Another alternative offered by Swan is the SK364872.010 which is manufactured from solid surface. This panels on this wall kit can easily be trimmed to fit and will butt together in the corners. Although not offered online, your local Home Depot should be able to special order this product. We hope this information helps guide you when making a final decision on your tub wall kit!
