Q:do you need you need seatmorter

Answer This Question
A: I always recommend using mortar to seat and level shower pans. I installed this 34x42 about a year ago and put about 10 three to five inch dabs of mortar on the subfloor and then set and leveled the shower pan. The end result gives a firm footing when standing in the shower .
Make sure that you use a level and square especially if you are installing tile above on the shower wall. Also, this shower pan was good quality and will last a long time.

A: If the floor almost level, then no mortar needed.

A: I used a leveling cement because my floor wasn’t level and also to give the shower basin more strength. I didn’t install a seat in this unit.

A: AHK,
Thank you for your interest in our Swanstone and Veritek Shower pans. Both floors use the same mold, hence the specifications are identical. The difference is the materials they are made from. The Swanstone solid surface is more durable and thicker material than the Veritek. Our solid surface material, Swanstone, is a compression-molded, thermoset material consisting of a blend of polymer resins, fillers and reinforcement additives. The manufacturing process results in a product with extreme resistance to heat, impact, expansion and chemicals. The color runs completely through the material and has no surface coating to chip or crack. We have more information and videos on our website, https://www.swanstone.com/index.php?page=performance
If you have any other questions, our customer service team would be happy to assist you and can be reached at 1-800-325-7008 or HomeDepotHelp@swanstone.com. Best wishes on your upcoming bath project. We hope you can share finished photos of your project on HomeDepot.com

A: If you compare the solid surface material in white to the Veritek material in white, you will see quite a difference in price (the solid in color is even more expensive) . The composition of the material making the shower pan is the only difference.. I liked the solid surface in white better, as it was a more durable shower base..I thought that the version made of whatever veritek is (probably fiberglass) was less durable and actually thinner. Anyway, I was quite happy with paying a little more and got the solid surface swan shower pan.
