    Answer This Question

A:  The allowable loads for the EPB44 vary depending on seismic design category and condition; please see the following link to the load table for complete details: https://www.strongtie.com/standoffpostbases_castinplacepostbases/epb_base/p/epb#LoadTables. It would be up to the Designer/Engineer of Record to determine if it is suitable for the specific application. Thank you!

A:  You could. But it won't be a tree house. It will be a play house near or around a tree.

              Answer This Question

A:  This worked really well for the posts supporting my deck, but the highest post was only 30". Should work ok for your fence post, but you still have to provide a good concrete filled hole to set the steel post base.

              by|May 14, 2020

A:  Do yourself a big favor and just replace the footing. Having installed fence fro years I've always regretted trying to salvage posts and footings. Do it right once or do it wrong over and over again.

Q:how are you supposed to install 3.5 inch nails into a 6*6 post?

                  Answer This Question

A:  I am guessing that you are concerned with the nails installing from opposite sides. The part has been tested with the specified fasteners and they will slide past each other. Thank you!

A:  Option to drill your post and use a bolt and nut.

                    by|Mar 29, 2020

A:  Simpson stated in an earlier question that the large holes are used to hold the bracket during the manufacturing stage. They are not for anchors. I'd like to caution you on the 6-16d nails--a cluster of nails like that in one small area, especially that close to the bottom of the post, can cause sever splitting. I pre-drilled pilot holes in my posts, and used the #9x2 1/2" bonderized galvanized screws, also available at Home Depot. If you use the nails, get the bonderized galvanized nails from Home Depot--smooth 16d nails will rust out in a couple years.

                      Answer This Question

A:  The side flange of the base from the top of the seat to the top edge is 3". This portion of the base is 12 gauge which is approximately 7/64" so overall would be 3 7/64". Thank you!
