Q:Can regular hose (screw type) clamps be used to secure PEX pipe to fitting connections? (link to example clamp sold by Home Depot https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-1-2-1-1-4-in-Hose-Repair-Clamp-6712595/202309385)

Answer This Question

A:  Please DO NOT use this clamp on PEX tubing. It is not rated for what you need. Please purchase a PEX clamp(s), which is installed with a crimping tool for proper sealing of the clamp to the fitting. If you are not familiar with this type of job, please hire a tradesman..

A:  No way you have to use the Pex clamps why take a chance with your house and all the damage water can do!

A:  I think I may have found my answer. Based on what was included in the bag of parts that came with the Tankless Water Heater which I purchased from Home Depot, they included two [1/2" FNPT x 3/4" Barb adapter] and two ["hose clamps" (screw type)] as shown in the attached image) to use for the water connection. So I am going to assume this is doable... If I find out otherwise, rest assured I will report back. (Although it might take me a while to dry out... Hahaa).

A:  Hi Jerbo, PEX is very flexible. Most users make bending sweeps in corners instead of using an elbow. There should be no issue working around posts.

A:  Your question is over 1 year old and my answer may not help you, however, perhaps someone else might benefit. PEX is somewhat flexible, but you are limited to the radius of the bend. The provide a fitting that helps the Pipe hold it's shape when doing a 90 degree bend say in a corner or other run where you do not wish to use a fitting. Small deviations in a straight line can be accomplished without too much fuss, provided that you do not bend the pipe in such a manner that it crimps the pipe, which can happen if you attempt to bend it too far. I understand that there are different grades, and one is much more flexible than the other.
