It will be necessary look on the outside of your particular tubing to see if ASTM F2098 is printed on it. If not, we would recommend contacting the tubing's manufacturer to check for approval. Answer This Question

A:  Not that I know of. The stainless steel clamps require a lot of force to set them properly and that is why the handles of the installation tool are so long.

A:  What is on the other side of the wall? I installed an access panel behind my shower faucet, easy to access all of the clamps. Sometimes you can disconnect other fittings and move your workpiece for better access.

Q:Can you apply the Pex Steel clamps with pliers or do I need the plex clamp tool?

        Answer This Question

A:  Yes you need the tool. It sets the exact position and tension.

        by|Jan 11, 2020

A:  Although it may seem like a quick solution, using the pliers will not fully crimp the clamp. The pex clamp tool is designed to equally crimp along the stainless offset to the proper amount. Don't chance a major leak from a blown off clamp!

A:  You have to use the pex clamp tool

            by|Jan 11, 2020

A:  You need to use the proper tool for a leak free seal.

A:  You'll be needing a clamp tool for this.

                by|Jan 9, 2020

A:  I won't say you can't, but you only get one chance and if it's not properly clamped - the Pex pipe can come off the fitting. If you plan to do several - the proper tool is the Pex Clamp Tool - well worth it in the long run.

A:  Yes, I believe that it is. And it does take a special tool to properly "cinch" it on the Pex hose and fitting.

A:  Yes it is and it is called that because it is putting tension on the clamp to seal the connection. Always use the proper crimping tool and follow all safety precautions.
