A: It's unlikely to rust unless you have the unit outside or in a very corrosive environment. Mine are in my kitchen, which at times gets quite steamy, but no rust so far. The chrome surface appears to be part of the metallic finish itself, not painted on, if that helps.

A: Too new to tell. My best guess is that they WON'T corrode or rust. That said, if they DO, it's probably going to take a long time (25 + years?). Finally, they're industrial grade which means that, under normal wear, they can probably sustain heavy-duty use. I'm replacing a shelving unit that actually WAS beginning to rust, but I bought it 25 years ago, on the cheap, and the quality wasn't nearly as good as the unit you're asking about.

A: Though I seriously doubt that HD stocks these, you can try. You may be better off going directly to the manufacturer. Seems that Sandusky (the manufacturer) would have a toll-free number that can be tracked down.

A: There were some plugs that you put on the tubes so I suppose you could use them on the bottom. I don't know for sure though because we wanted wheels and didn't notice otherwise. Sorry.

A: It comes with regular feet already installed. That said, it's easy to unscrew them, and screw in the casters. You have that option.
