Answer This Question
A: The unit is chrome plated, not stainless steel. Eventually if it is always in a wet environment it is possible it will rust over time. The casters could rust if in constant moisture as well. I hope this helps.

A: I have had my units for several years and no rust. But, they have remained in normal indoor house environment.
by|Dec 30, 2018
A: Yes, they will rust eventually as they are not designed to be used in a very wet location. You could wash them or pressure wash them occasionally but not use in a very wet environment.

A: I don’t think it would survive in outside environment but indoor moisture would take some time to show rust in my opinion. I keep mine inside and the shelves are great quality.

A: Will not rust.

Q:500lbs capacity per shelf, it means on feet? or on wheel?

Answer This Question
A: VERY good question. It's strictly a guess, but I would think these shelves can support 500 lbs on the legs (without the wheels). Will it support the same amount of weight when the unit rests on the wheels? Not sure.
by|Dec 25, 2018
A: On feet
by|Dec 25, 2018
A: I don't think it matters but I would be careful putting 500 lb on each shelf because there are only plastic inserts or wedges holding to the rod but this is an extremely strong unit so I don't think you'll be unhappy
by|Dec 24, 2018
A: Using the leveler legs (feet) they are rated for more than if using the caster wheels.
by|Mar 7, 2019
A: I know it will on feet but I don't have experience with the wheels.

Q:What's the total weight that the casters can support?

A: I can’t answer maximum weight support. I use this unit because it is very well made, very sturdy and gives me peace of mind; I am storing delicate porcelain art pieces that are in the original packaging when I am not displaying items.

A: I have about 90 'cases' of Fancy Feast stored on the shelves. Worked like a charm.

Q:When assembled without casters can the height of the legs be adjusted for uneven flooring, i.e., front longer than rear? I would like to install in my garage, my interior walls have a concrete ledge that is 5" high and 6" deep. I had to custom fit the wood legs on my workbench and other shelving in order to make back side flush against the wall when installed.

A: You have to substitute the casters for adjustable inserts. These are a hex (6 sides) plate attached to a screw threaded shank that adjusts within a female threaded insert driven into the bottom of the legs
For stability, I wouldn't use them for more that a 1" difference.

A: No, the legs are fixed, but the frame has enough flex that it is not a big deal.

A: The only way I can think of to adjust by 5 + or so inches would be with a coupler and extending the legs with some type of metal pipe. The shelf unit is extremely well built and looks good too - definitely not fragile and appears really strong. Love mine and would highly recommend.

A: I am not sure. I think you may have to ask this question at your local Home Depot store

A: Yes, other manufacturers have the individual shelves, Honey Do It
by|May 6, 2023
A: Other makers have shelves to expand the number of shelves in the unit. You just have to consider the fact that the shelf you buy may not be heavy duty etc.

A: I really don't think so. Extending upward would make the unit top heavy. Best to ask the manufacturer.

A: Hi Saddlebum, we do not offer any extensions for this shelving unit to make this taller. However we do offer a similar unit that is 72 inches in height. Thank you for shopping Home Depot!

A: Yes, if you cut each of the 4 posts, just be careful to face all cut ends DOWN as they can be sharp. The casters may not go back in easily
by|Feb 5, 2020
A: The upright corner piles are fixed length, so not likely you can make into 2 shorter racks.
