A:  Hi John, thank you for reaching out. Our Restore 4x Deck Coat may be applied over Restore 10x to refresh the color and finish. We recommend pressure washing the deck or scraping chipped areas to remove any loose coating, then once the surface is clean and dry, the deck should be primed using our Restore Deck Start Wood Primer before applying the Restore 4x: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-Restore-1-gal-Deck-Start-Wood-Primer-301233/206869729 - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2

        Answer This Question

A:  Happy to help. We do not recommend mixing Rust-Oleum Restore 4X Deck Coat with any other products. It may affect the curing and/or performance of the products. You can use 4X to coat vertical surfaces like railings while Rust-Oleum Restore 10X Advanced can be applied to horizontal surfaces only. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5

A:  Rust-Oleum Restore 4X Deck Coat is suitable for use on exterior vertical surfaces. Please keep in mind that the concrete must be broom swept or porous since this coating will not adhere to smooth or floated concrete. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3

Q:I Have a gallon of sandstone colored x10. Is the sandstone x4 the same thing?

              Answer This Question

A:  Our Restore 4x Deck Coat is a smooth coating for decks, railings, and spindles, while our Restore 10x Advanced is a textured coating for horizontal surfaces only. The Sandstone color for both the Restore 4x and 10x Advanced is the same color, and should match if you decided to apply the 10x Advanced to a deck surface, and the 4x to the railings. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2
