Q:After I put down the base coat, can I add other colors to it before I do the top coat? I plan to use floor tile stencils to make this look like a stone so there will be at least 2 other colors. If I can add other colors, what paint should I use?

Q:I have a heavy washing machine and dryer that will be dragged on top of this. What is recommended to prevent scraping this floor paint off? Would it be better to build a wheeled platform for the washer and dryer?

A: We're happy to help, Naty. If Rust-Oleum Home Floor Coating has fully cured for at least 7 days then it will need to be sanded before recoating. This will help build a surface profile and promote adhesion.

Q:Can this be used on old slate flooring? It is very uneven and there are chips in the grout? Do I need to fill anything in? Of just paint over it all?

Answer This Question
A: Happy to help, Debbie! Yes, the Rust-Oleum Home Floor Coating System can be used on slate surfaces. Any uneven areas or chips would need to be filled in with a paintable filler prior to application if wanting a smoother finish. This system will not fill in and repair any chips.

Q:If used on a oak floor with worn out finish in a kitchen, how would I prep the wood that may have received oil and such from cooking? Is the supplied cleaner strong enough? What else would need to be done for a good bond?

Answer This Question
A: Happy to help, Phil! The Rust-Oleum Home Floor Coating Kit does contain our Krud Kutter Cleaner and Degreaser product, which can help clean grease and oil. You may need to lightly scrub the areas to ensure any oil is removed from the surface. Prior to any application, an adhesion test is recommended to ensure favorable results.

Q:Will this 2 part system work on a shower tile floor? Daily water

Answer This Question
A: Thank you for reaching out, Lisa. We do not recommend applying Rust-Oleum HOME Floor Coating to a shower as the exposure to water will cause the finish to blister and peel. Instead, we recommend Rust-Oleum Specialty Tub & Tile Refinishing Kit.
