A: Hi there Karen!
We are not sure if Home Depot offers in store cutting, but these shades are easily trimmed at home using a kitchen knife or box cutter as they are made of paper.

A: The shade is simple to apply after you measure it to size once you bring it home. You trim it to size on your own based on the length of your window and how much extra pleated paper material you want to keep at the bottom part. Once you know where you want to place the upper part with the self-stick adhesive tape, hold it up there and then release the bottom to let it fall to the sill or below. That will give you a feel for how much shade material you'll want. It's better to leave more material than less since you can always trim more off if you desire. I recommend you draw a line across at the bottom where you've chosen the length to be. Use a pencil and yardstick, and then use a box cutter or scissor to cut across that line. I used clips on both sides at the bottom to hold the excess pleated lower material together on both sides. To raise the shade, you have to refold the pleats up to the desired height and re-clip both sides. I used large paper clips that seemed less visible from a distance. Hope this helps!

A: I am not aware of Home Depot providing this service. However, the paper shade is easy to cut using a straight edge and box cutter or razor knife. Scissors will work but is definitely more tedious.

Q:These will be going on a south-facing screened porch. It is enclosed with the Eze-Breeze vinyl window system, and it gets pretty warm. How much heat will the adhesive withstand?

A: I have used a lot of these paper shades. The adhesive is pretty tough as long as the area to which it is applied is reasonably clean, dust free, and smooth. Sometimes I apply the shade to the window glass vs. the molding. If it starts to peel off at one end, I just add some clear tape. I have even saved and reused these shades for more than one season if they still look clean. However, they may tear when removed. Also, tape is needed for re-use.

A: It will stick on without a problem. Very strong adhesive.

A: I have used the shades in south facing windows and have had no issues with the adhesive failing to hold them. In fact I recently replaced several shades and was amazed at how strong the adhesive was when I had to remove them.

A: These shades are PAPER shades, its a temporary solution until you decide on a more permeant solution.

A: I’ve had mine hung for a few years on an enclosed glass porch that gets a lot of heat, but I reinforced the adhesive with thumb tacks.

A: I see no reason why not. Mine were on wood, but when removed all that remained was just a bit of 'sticky'.....easily removed with soapy cloth.

A: Hi Desert, thank you for your question. Our shades will adhere very well to smooth, clean, dry surfaces and will not harm them, including the metal frame of your window. Just make sure the surface is completely free of dust and dirt. We recommend using alcohol and a clean cloth to prep the surface prior to installation. RS Customer Care

A: 1 am assuming you are referring to the metal frame around your window. The paper blinds will not harm the finish of the metal window frame.
by|Apr 13, 2022
A: I believe so. They didn’t harm the newly painted wood windows here when we needed them until our custom shades were finished. Just remove the top adhesive gently and steadily when ready to remove. They’re awesome and really do the trick.

A: These are made of paper. You can measure and cut them to fit your window.
by|Dec 24, 2021
A: No. The two vertical strings used to raise the shade are almost 17" apart so the shade is too wide for a 15" window.
