      Answer This Question

A:  Hi there. We recommend that the shades are installed on a smooth flat surface that is not textured or freshly painted within the past 90 days.*Textures include wallpapered surfaces, stucco, drywall, and porous surfaces. As long as your surface is prepped properly, the shade should hold on that surface. Note that the adhesive might take the paint off depending on how long the paint has cured for. RS Customer Care.

A:  Hi there. Thank you for your question. As long as your surface is prepped and the shade will be protected from elements such as wind, water, and dirt, it should work well for your door! RS Customer Care.

A:  Hi there, Thanks for the very interesting question. While our Original Paper Shades are great for all windows, they are a paper shade that is not weighted down. RS Customer Care

A:  These blinds are light weight paper. Might provide a little insulation, but not much.

A:  They are paper I haven't had them rip and have used them in 2 houses but keep in mind, they're meant to be temporary

                by|Dec 17, 2022

A:  It is paper. We got them and have a dog. She has ripped the bottoms. They have held up otherwise with double sided tape. We moved into a new house (2 years) ago already and because of other items that needed to be paid for haven’t gotten blinds or window coverings yet. Other than the rip by the dog they have held up well. I also have two children in the toddler/baby/ preschool age and they haven’t had an issue

Q:These temporary shades will be going on french doors. Will I be able to outside mount them?

A:  If you are talking about placing them OUTDOORS, their use will be very limited because they are paper. They might work temporarily in a covered patio. If by "outside mount" you mean outside the framed windows, you can stick them most anywhere. I cut a couple of them to fit the width of the glass on some indoor French doors (that lead to my sun room), and I ended up sticking them to the top part of the glass so that they fit inside the outer French door frames. This prevents damage to the wood or paint from the adhesive. The shades are cheap enough that you can buy some and experiment. I mainly use them to block summer sun on selected windows (where I don't have nor want permanent shades).

A:  Hi Martha, Thank you for reaching out to us. It is easy to mount your shades as an outside mount, by turning the shades 90 degrees and sticking them to the wall directly. The shades will cascade down very nicely. RS Customer Support.

A:  They are not intended to be permanent, but seem like they will stay up indefinitely as long as the window is clean when you hang them- but they are only made of paper.

A:  They last depending where you hang them. I have them in my bedroom and they should last forever. I hung them and now they are left alone. I also have them hung on the front door and they won't last as long since we are opening and closing the door often. Most of the time they just rip. I recommend for hanging where you set and forget them. Hope this helps.
