A: The motor is 4.3amps and no, the support plate cannot be moved to the belt.

A: Horse power is unknown. You can stop the belt sander by pressing too hard on the belt. Don't apply excessive pressure, let the sander do its job. I do not think the disk sanding support can be relocated.

A: Yes, I use this to round edges and legs. It takes some patience and skill though. You only want to use this for heavy removal though and use sand paper for finishing a rounding job
by|Jun 22, 2021
A: Yes, but if that is the only use you have for it then a less expensive choice would be a handheld orbital sander.

A: Ask ryobi!

A: I cannot think of any reason why you can't use it for metal. I wouldn't hesitate to occasionally run metal across it, with the right belt, of course! If you may want to use it in a metal fabrication shop, then please consider buying one that is heavier duty.

Answer This Question
A: Don't know why you don't use a file to clean up the edge of a piece of metal that may have a sharp edge. Using sand paper on the belt sander to soften an edge of a piece of sharp metal will probably produce hot sparks that could cause a fire.
