It was not designed for wet sanding.  Additionally, if you need further support, then a RYOBI Customer Experience Professional is here for you, Monday - Friday from 9 am to 6 pm (EST) when you call or text us at 1.800.525.2579 or through email or live chat when you visit us at https://www.ryobitools.com/support/contact. A:  I would think that sanding a wet object would cause problems such as the sand paper being clogged and parts of the sander would also experience the same problem

A:  I am currently away from access to the sander so I can't answer the rpm question. Whatever speed it is running at is sufficient to do a good job at sanding wood. What is more important is this warning: The on/off switch has a plastic key in it which allows you to disable the unit for safety reasons I assume. My key worked its way out and was lost. Without the key the switch feels like its broken. I found I could not order the key separately but had to buy the whole switch. The replacement switch is a different size (does not fit sander) so I just used the new key. $17. for a bit of plastic key. Advice: Tape over the key on the switch to prevent loss due to machine vibration. Note: I sent the company the model and serial number and still got an unusable switch.

A:  Hi, Nick. Thank you for your interest in the RYOBI 4 in x 36 in. Belt and 6 in. Disc Sander. To change the sanding belt you will need to do the following; Using the hex key provided, loosen the positioning bolt by turning the bolt counterclockwise. Move the sanding belt into a vertical position. Lock the sanding belt by retightening the positioning bolt. Pull the belt tension lever toward you to release the belt tension. Place the sanding belt over the drive roller and idler roller with the directional arrows running counterclockwise. Be sure the sanding belt is centered on both drums. Push the belt tension lever back into place to apply the belt tension. A:  Um. Excuse me Ryobi, but why does it have a dust port if the intention is to not connect a shop vac hose? I believe it is a 2.5 inch port.
