A: This can work for the pitting but depending if you want with the scales I would go with a belt or oscillating spindle sander
A: This sander is for wood. I suggest you hand sand with wet or dry wet. It works best with metal.
A: I suppose , with the correct belt, you could sand metal with this tool. But I think you would better appreciate the final results if you would use a flap disc in a 4-1/2" angle grinder. The flap disc would follow any contour better than a belt sander.

A: Hello Doyle, thank you for your question. To stand the belt sander up on the RYOBI 4 in x 36 in. Belt and 6 in. Disc Sander, you would loosen the positioning screw which is located at the top of the belt cover. - Justin
A: You have to loosen a bolt and that will allow the the sanding "table" to pivot. Once you get the angle you want, re-tighten the bolt to hold the table in place. The location of this bolt can be found in your owners' manual.
A: You have to loosen the hex drive bolt at the end where it tilts up. You'll see a lock and unlock icon on the left side. Loosen this a few turns and it will flip up. Don't forget to tighten it back up!
A: Loosen the alum screw like you are changing the belt and put it into position.
A: I don't exactly know what you mean as a belt arm. The belt rides on a metal platform with plastic trim. The stop arm above the belt is also metal. Looks pertly sturdy to me.
A: Yes, the arm is metal and the front cover synthetic.
A: Hello Matt, thank you for your question. The belt arm of the RYOBI 4 in x 36 in. Belt and 6 in. Disc Sander is made from steel. - Justin
A: Steel.
A: Hi Sherry! Thank you for your question. We cannot recommend using this tool for polishing as its intent and documentation only supports use for sanding.
A: Of course... They sell pollishings Disc for rayobi sanding machine.
A: Although I have never tried, according to the instruction booklet the work table can be repositioned to use with belt sander.
A: No, it's fixed in place.
A: If the question is" can the small table support located at the disk sander be relocated to a new position near the belt sander" I see no evidence of that being able to be done.
A: Not sure what you mean by work table? If you mean the work table by the round disk, that only mounts in that place.
A: Thank you Dragiu for your inquiry. The table can be moved from disc side to belt side. ~Hope this helps, Ashley
A: Hi Sonny, The motor is 4.3amps. Thanks for asking. Greg

A: 4.3 look at specs https://www.homedepot.com/p/RYOBI-4-in-x-36-in-Belt-and-6-in-Disc-Sander-BD4601G/205509608
A: 3.2 amp. I LIKE THIS BELT SANDER. SEAMS TO HAVE PLENTY OF POWER AND WORKS WELL. I HAVE A COUPLE OF OTHER RYOBE POWER TOOLS THAT SEAM TO WORK WELL, INDICATING THAT RYOBY MAKES FARLY GOOD TOOLS. .
A: 4.3 amps.
A: 4.3 amps. All the specs are on the Home Depot site. Look them up!
A: I mounted mine on a 10 x18 x1/2 sheet of plywood which I can clamp to a workbench or table and store out of way when not needed. If you need a stand and If you are a handy man, buy some angle iron and build one. There are a number of stands available on the net. Check them out!
A: Hi ednorton, The stand just needs to be stable when you put pressure for sanding so it does not tip over. Thanks for asking. Greg
A: The sander is fairly heavy, so basically stable. Any stand, either metal or wood, that adequately supports the weight of the sander should work fine. As an aside, I most frequently use the sander on the concrete floor of my garage since most sanding I do is of relatively small pieces.
A: I have mine bolted to a work table I built. If you’re looking for a portable stand then I would measure the hole distances and compare it to the stands.
A: This sander can be mounted to almost any wooden top work bench. There are pre-drilled holes on the base of the sander to attach it to the top of a work bench or you could make your own bench to suit your needs.
How can we help?
